My sister gets what she wants, all the time.. she just keeps whining and complaining, and my mother is too soft for that..

My girls would not have permission at that age. Too many things can go wrong and permanently scar her, just for the sake of 'being cool'.

A girl having a belly button ring hardly makes her a slut, get a grip. 14 is too young regardless, they get infected all the time and are hard to take care of. However if you deny her, she must just do it herself, might want to try and prevent that.

I got my tongue pierced when I was 14. Basically, I told my parents I would get it done myself if they didn't take me. I was a piece of crap back then and regret it, but my point is this: chances are, she can have one of her stupid friends do it if you won't let her. I'm not saying you should allow it, however you should consider the risks of having some kid with a safety pin pierce her instead of a professional.

We've all been teenagers... What worked for me ... My parents pretty much let me do whatever I wanted as long as I told them about the stuff I was doing (drug experimenting etc) . He would warn me about stuff and we'd talk a lot ...

Worked very well because I never abused any substance in my life ... no cigarette ... no pop, no fast food, no drugs ... I was made aware of stuff that's bad for me and the reason why it's bad ... but they never forced me not to do it .

There are TONS of kids at 14 with a belly button ring ... it's nothing big ...

I wouldn't let my daughter get a tatoo at that age ... but just a small peircing like that ? most likely .

Instead of just saying no, you should talk to her about it. When you are a teenager and your parents say no, most of the time you end up doing it, then try to hide it. So talking to her will really help.
