MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- Hurricane Dennis -- a Category 4 storm packing 145 mph winds with faster gusts -- slammed into Cuba on Friday and has the Florida Keys in its sights.

The governors of Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama have declared states of emergency, urging residents in the storm's path to begin evacuating immediately and not wait until the last minute.

most of the residents are taking it very seriously now, Cat. 5 is very much possible once it hits dry land.
