You should just get contacts.

I only need them when I am in front of the computer or reading, so contacts wouldn't work!

glasses are not going to fix a crt that has gone bad and is doing real damage to your eyes.
the symptoms you describe are typical for one who is using a bad crt monitor.
the lcd may take awhile to get used to, but it will fix the problem.
