AlienQ, you're a loser. I'm not going to try to explain how this statement is fucked up 'cuz you just won't get it. Once again, I don't have any fake nicks on this board & I wouldn't pull a scam to win a contest. That's not how I operate.

It's not like other buttons got 20 votes and mine got 5078 and yours got 5079. We got 50-some votes each - big deal. It's not that extraordinary - I actually spent a whole day on GFY bumping the thread, yea, I talked to the 10 - 15 GFY people I have on my ICQ (3 of whom had already been contacted by you :1orglaugh ), and yea, I think my button was pretty damn original and eye-catching.

If you doubt the results, I would LOVE for this contest to be re-posted on a board that's not inundated with GFY'ers. Not for any prize, but just to see whose button comes out on top. If Roger says that's ok, I would fucking love to see how a vote not tainted by board politics and popularity would play out. If not, hell, it's been fun and I got to be involved with some real board drama for once. Hell yea! :1orglaugh

It was close but it was only 50-some odd votes each - it's not that extraordinary of a coincidence, man, over 2000 people viewed the thread - what surprises me is there weren't way more votes.

And there wasn't anyone who was going to throw it at the last minute - that just sounds like paranoia. I was about 9 votes behind you at 6pm and nothing stopped, I continued to have some more votes trickle in throughout the night 'til at the end I was only like 2 behind you. Everyone likes conspiracy theories but it's not really anything special - the vote was a little close, big deal. Like I said we're not dealing with very big #'s here.

I own a company that offers design and printing. I started as a designer but now have other designers who handle all of that. The only thing I do now is handle advertising, marketing and some customer service. I'm not a designer trying to make a name for myself - you just don't get it - I don't give a shit, I'm not trying to make a name on GFY, I don't even care, I just come here for a laugh.

The way to go in a contest like this is to put everyone's entry up but not put their names beside them. That way people can vote on the work and not have the temptation to vote based on the person. Entrants should be sworn to secrecy about whose entry is whos, and there would be no room to bitch whatsoever.

Lensman ran such a competition, in the miss GFY contest, when each girl had to write an article answering a seriies of questions. No one was told whose submission was whos, it made for a more interesting competition as well.

Something to remember for futer contests of this nature. No names.

Dear AlienQ -- The difference is, is that I do regular business with Badmunchkin. Why? Because he's solid, reliable, I can count on him to deliver, and he's a man of his word. To me that's worth something. I'm also here because I can plainly see that his work is superior to yours in my opinion, and also because I don't like the allegations you unfairly made against him, and I don't like your piss-poor attitude displayed here.

However in your case, I do not do business with you. I never have done business with you. I do tons of referrals to other webmasters and companies every month, including some design work. None of those referrals will ever be going your way, because I don't refer people to guys like you whose attitude sucks. When I refer a client to someone I basically put my name behind what I am referring. Your shit-for-brains attitude shows me time and time again that having anything to do with you business-wise would be a stupid and otherwise very avoidable mistake.
