Do you believe in one true love? Soulmates?

So I'm on one of my friend's blogs - some chick I dated like once because she was an army brat, lived most of her life on a military base in Korea and was only in Tampa for a short period of time before returning to Korea.
So we keep in touch sometimes, no big deal. She's hot, very exotic-looking but she lives in Korea, the chances of us hooking up at this point are pretty much nil.

Anyways, back to the point, I'm on her blog and she's going on & on about how most everyone talks about finding the love of their life at 19.
She's 19 and can't understand why she hasn't found that person and thinks maybe she should not try to fall in love 'cuz she's too busy with school, blah, blah, blah.

So, I reply to her blog with this comment (and tell me if you disagree):

Love is nothing but hormones being released into your cranium. The reason people talk about soulmates at 19 is because they are completely unscarred and not cynical at that point in their lives and it's easy to give in to the idea of true love.

Don't get me wrong, I think to love and be loved is extremely important - it makes you healthier mentally and physically. But the idea of soulmates is a bit silly (esp. if, like me, you believe in Chaos Theory and the complete randomness of the universe as opposed to predestiny).

What are the chances that everyone's true love happens to live within 20 miles from them? Gimme a break. What of people who are disabled, schizo, retarded or autistic? They just are obsolete from this absurd equation that everyone on the planet has and deserves their own special soulmate?

Taking a vicodin releases the same dopamine chemicals as being in love. It's how humans are wired to bond us and raise children and so forth. In reality, humans are more predisposed to being polyamorous, but people lie and cheat because they can't just be honest with each other and accept that this whole standardized western morals system is basically bullshit.

So, bottom line, true love and marriage is all a sham and everyone should stay single or become part of an open, polyamorous relationship.

P.S. I Love You, when are we getting married?

Definition of a "soul mate" is a person who has less shit to put up with than the average person!

Yeah, I believe in soulmates. It's someone you might find on the other side of the world and then stand to live and work with them 24/7 and have it last more than 10 years.

          ...but I could be wrong

I believe in love but not in "a" soul mate. There's more than one person out there that's an ideal matchup for you (which is a good thing considering you'll only ever encounter a fraction of the people in the world). Proximity is important in finding your partner... which is why most people wind up dating and marrying co-workers or people they went to school with. You never get to talk to or meet most people in your town, city, state, country, much less the world.

100,000 chicks born every single day on Planet Earth baby. I like those odds.

                    100,000. Damn, I am behind.
