Just when the adult industry is going through enough misfortune at the hands of our elected government over 2257, the fact that Oprah makes such a patently uninformed (and closed-minded) accusation about "pornographers" is just sickening. I'm glad to see that so many of you have taken the time to write Oprah expressing your (our) views on her horrible misrepresentation of this industry.
I just got off the phone with Grace from the ASACP, and they're currently in the process of contacting Oprah's producers to arrange some airtime for Joan to appear on the show and help put to rest the notion that the LEGITIMATE adult industry is even remotely supportive of CP. As the front-line in the battle against sexual exploitation of children online, ASACP is in a prime position to publicly illustrate the fact that mainstream adult companies are in fact contributing considerable time and funds to combat this scurge.

I think you're show is very well done and while I've always admired your professionalism and journalistic integrity, I must admit that I am truly disappointed and dismayed by your recent comment regarding "pornographers hopping on a plane after the Tsunami to shoot child porn". Point in fact, the adult online community despises child porn and in fact, monitors it more closely than just about any other organization. The "adult entertainment" community is mobilized and donates much of their time and dollars to an organization called the ASACP which does an excellent job of monitoring and combating online child pornography. In addition, the adult online community has raised money to help the victims of the Tsunami. In short, I find your on-air comment accusatory, inflammatory and unprofessional. I think it best for you to research an organization prior to vilifying them on air.

Now I did not hear what was said, but IF she has categorized us (pornographers) of supporting CP and lumping us together..there MAY BE something there, as it hurts our business as a whole. I mean I know the Beef people tried to do this and lost, but Bad Beef isn?t illegal, CP is! So wow she has categorized us as Criminals! So what do you all think of this?

Oprah is a fraud. I wrote her less than 6mos ago about a serial child rapist, a guy that was part of a ring that forced children to be raped for money, and worse. I asked for help and gave her specifics, including the times and dates of contacts with the two Arizona (Tucson) police agencies (that proved useless and beyond). I even posted on her board and never heard a peep.
And if the cow isn't hypocritical enough, she has openly shared her own experience of being raped and molested by her uncle, even apparently had a show about it and confronted her folks (who were both aware) but didn't involve the law. So she's mighty lenient with her own but has no problem slandering an entire industry. For a better understanding of child porn, we should get in contact with her father and uncle.Comment

I was very insulted by your remark that you made insinuating that pornographers were on planes heading to thailand after the tsunamis to capitalize on shooting child pornography.
You just classified us hard working americans that cater adult materials to adults as criminals and pedophiles by this comment.
You should be more cautious with some of your comments as you are alienating some of your viewers that work in the adult entertainment industry. Child pornographers are the bottom of the barrel and scum, and should be wiped off the face of this earth, Many of us in the Adult Internet Community fight daily to support the protection of children and try to ensure that only legal aged adults have access to our "Adult" materials.
For instance, ASACP, Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection, recieves thousands of reports of child porn sites per month, they assist the FBI in prosecuting the people who publish and produce this material..
Many industry leaders are supporters of this organization as are MANY other companies and webmasters.
In the future we would appreciate it if you do not class "Pornographers" as "Child Pornographers" there are BIG differences.I'm here for the violence!Comment

The reason we care is because, while some of us couldn't care less what Oprah says on national television, the legions of soccer mom sheep that DO hang on her every word are VOTERS, and voters listen to the popular media and base a lot of their opinions (and preconceived notions) on what they hear. Personally I don't care what Oprah thinks, but it doesn't mean she doesn't have a variable level of influence on the general public.Comment

and nobody has yet mentioned the ugliest part of Oprah misrepresenting who child rapists actually are...which is just that, it helps to confuse and dilute the issue, detracting from the actual perpetrators. That's the main reason that this kind of slander is so harmful. The consequences are to numerous to mention but a few are:
people who know others in the adult business and know they aren't child rapists may then have doubts concerning true offenders ( "...gee, maybe this guy isn't all that guilty some people call anyone in such-and-such industry, child rapists..");
or "why should I even report such a crime if I know it to be true, hell there's a whole industry of people doing it and I wouldn't want to take on a crowd like that..";
or "...looks like there are more of em than I thought, must be systematic, must be rooted in sociological problems...";
and of course there are all those that define "normal" as that which most, or even "a lot" of people are doing, so it pushes the "it's normal" line closer, at least creates more distance from the "it's abnormal", and especially from the "it's completely fucking unacceptable"Comment
