how 2257 affect designer's site?
With all the panic that new 2257 law occur, i'm wondering about my web design site... Do i have to remove all the links to the pages (website hosted on my server) in the past?
If so, how can we promote ourself then? Thank for your input! |

What if you have a folder on your computer for a client that you are building a site for, and you have all their content they gave you to use and no docs. Can they come across this on your HD and bother you about it? or is it only for published work?

Hope this is related to the US-based studios only. It's sooooo GOOD that I live so far away from America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That what i was thinking... thank for your answers.
I forgot to say that i'm Canadians but having servers in the US. So anyway, if ever you have a outside US hosting in your sleves... It could be great! PS: not looking for a dedi, a virtual or share cold do the trick. |

(1) A primary producer is any person who actually films,
videotapes, photographs, or creates a digitally- or computer- manipulated image, a digital image, or picture of, or digitizes an image of, a visual depiction of an actual human being engaged in actual sexually explicit conduct. (2) A secondary producer is any person who produces, assembles, manufactures, publishes, duplicates, reproduces, or reissues a book, magazine, periodical, film, videotape, digitally- or computer- manipulated image, picture, or other matter intended for commercial distribution that contains a visual depiction of an actual human being engaged in actual sexually explicit conduct, or who inserts on a computer site or service a digital image of, or otherwise manages the sexually explicit content of a computer site or service that contains a visual depiction of an actual human being engaged in actual sexually explicit conduct, including any person who enters into a contract, agreement, or conspiracy to do any of the foregoing. Now what do designers do again?

DamageX : The sites are indeeds to the webmasters. But we use it as promoting ourself (and it's written on our terms). Take a join, sit back and relax... It's Saturday.
AfterSockMedia : Thank, i missed that part. Now it's clear that i have to find a non-US base hosting. Note : If the amenment were clear to evryone... we didn't find much of it on the board.... So that's why i'm asking since everybody have it own opignon. |

We have taken the step to remove most of our portfolio (We are the first design comapny to do this due to 2257) and only list a very small amount of our work.
We do not post any sites in our portfoio that either we do not have secondary producer info for or are explicit in nature. This will relive us of any worry down the line should it become a problem. And for the record... even if you are out of the country, but do business with US companies and accept US funds, you are now conducting business within the US. The companies who hire you are contracting you from within the US. You need to follow the law. don't let others tell you different.
