Paysite owners: Do you allow FHG hotlinking?

Any input on this? I mean the pics have the paysite URL stomped on them and if people want to post them on pic boards and stuff like that more people will see the site and maybe type in the URL. The downside is ofcourse the increased bandwidth. How do you handle this?

Well, technically the image is still hosted on our domain, which we do have a license for.

Allowing your affiliates to hotlink your FHG images and videos is a good idea, especially with the new 2257 issues.

However, If you allow hotlinking of your FHG images and videos, make sure to block "fusker" sites.

These fuckers (fuskers) will put your pictures up with no links back to your site. The surfers on those sites are definately not going to type in your domain and join your site, so it is a huge bandwidth burden.

Fuck Fusker!

Anna,

Check out my latest site:
Electricity Play

I think it will do well with your traffic and we have some hosted galleries ready!

Hosted Galleries - Look at the bottom of the list.

hey anna i do hotlink FHG's sometimes, i guess most people i asked are ok with it, but the problem is the day the get fuskered or something of that sort happens, they will put the htaccess on and you'll end up having all those galleries listed with no images, or worse a link to an image that says fuck you fusker lol ,

so yeah it's debatable.

Hosting is dirt cheap these days so I allow almost anything. I don't give a shit if you are a fusker, all movies are watermarked so surfers can find my site.

So it seems that people don't put hotlink protection on their hosted galleries then...

I have hotlink protection on my hosted galleries, but if an affiliate asks, I can disable it for certain domains.. If he uses it for the promotion of our sites.

Remember, we are advertising porn sites here, and are not here to hand out free porn to surfers forums. If you disable hotlink protection, people will create huge threads on surfer forums, or set up pages hotlinking 100's of images without a single backlink. Been there done that.
Its not that I care about the bandwith, because thats cheap, but it is just not good for business IMHO.

Nice to see a different input

But if you have your URL stomped on the pics, wouldn't this also help spread the name and knowledge of your site?

Yes it will increase that, but images in hosted galleries are there compliment the advertising in gallery itself. If you take a away the sales text and advertising in the gallery, you are just left with the pics. (great ones ofcourse, but still ;) )

Hotlinked a hundred at a time, without advertising links, it will not create many signups is my experience.

And what affiliate would post it on boards without his own aff. links? So, if someone wants to post it to some board, as an advertising method, with links and all, we just enable hotlinking for that domain..

Mind you, enabling anti-hotlinking will not stop the images from getting spread. If people really like the content they will simply upload it to a forum that allows uploading or to a freehost. Nothing we can do about it... But I'm not going to make it even more easy then it is already...
