They're doing projects like Google Earth and will make a ton off of those services; hopefully they do background checks though, so terrorists can't use the info... it's a little scary. Mark show 'Buildings' and then 'Schools' and you instantly have a large % of the building locations of schools around the world..Originally posted by johndoebobVirtual value, they only make money through overture and very few advertisers, same goes for google, the google CEOs themselves already sold more value in stocks than google ever made profits.

Virtual value or not who fn cares? 22 million members in that amount of time is worth a fortune. Just because they don't know how to capitalize on it doesn't mean they won't learn.Originally posted by johndoebobVirtual value, they only make money through overture and very few advertisers, same goes for google, the google CEOs themselves already sold more value in stocks than google ever made profits.Comment

Virtual value means it's based on nothing real and somebody is going to pay when the bubble bursts and that might be you or any other investor that gets in at the wrong moment.Originally posted by chadglniVirtual value or not who fn cares? 22 million members in that amount of time is worth a fortune. You said don't forget the music promoters and I said music promotion is free beside you want to push a big festival on the main page and there aren't that many each year and they won't pay myspace more than maybe a few thousand dollars for doing that if they think it's worth it.Originally posted by JoesTrafficI'm not talking about the free stuff. Free doesn't generate revenue.Comment

MIX has legal problems, they settled with NY which kinda gives them some blame with other sue happy states. They really should break myspace off in an IPO, otherwise it is going to be drug down.
top 20 site online and they are only worth 256m? dont be fooledICQ - 254-315-493Comment

what do you guys think about the big tech companies right now for a little bit longer term investment?

MySpace will most likely suffer the same wrath as other Internet companies built on venture capital and a dream. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great site and they've done a good job getting through their growing pains and early server and uptime issues. The truth is that they are building a business on a model that has failed many times. They came in on the heels of Friendster who's in dumps.
There are a lot of things that MySpace does right but I wouldn't invest too heavily in this stock.
Yahoo! turned the corner well.
Google is breaking all of the records.
However, MySpace is not Yahoo! It has a very large, yet limited demographic.
MySpace would be a good pickup for Google or Yahoo.Comment
