I heard that in Europe it's not so much the heat, but the unwashed underarm stink that does you in.

why do those threads always end up in a general country bashing? :helpme
When I was a kid I used to say: "Hey my father is better than yours!!" Then the discussion with the other kids that were with me started.... "NO!! my father is better, stronger etc..." and so on for a little while without ever being able to compare my father with the other fathers. I was talking shit because I was ignorant...... I have that "déjà vu"' feeling when I read all those posts about how "better" that country is and how "a shit hole" is the other. All supported by people who seem to be very limited in general culture. Of course, many people are great in their replies as they bring good sens and intelligent inputs to the discussion...God bless them :thumbsup I simply have a hard time understanding why some people here are so aggressive and violent in their words for no good reasons...... :Oh crap |

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh the lack of intelligence in this thread is amusing... |

You get my point right. Any one making a point that generlizes a whole country of people, is an idiot, |
What a sad, stupid thread...
The people who died were the ones who couldn't afford to shell out $1000 for an A/C... It's not that easy to scrounge up that much money for a temporary and rare temperature condition... In any country... I'm in Montreal, on a 15 level, 200+ apartment building.. Current temperature outside is 32C, current temperature inside is 34C... Yet only 10% of us actually have A/C units.. Not everyone can afford the luxury... |

So don't come here, stay in the US. |

And yea i agree :pimp |
whatever - edited - alex is not worth my time

And then edit it. And then mention my name saying i am not worth your time. You envy me man, because i can spend as much time on gfy and not have to make a post quota to pay my rent. |
Amusing that someone actually feels the need to comment on a house value - $650K acutally means nada for two reasons:
(a) It would not buy shit elsewhere. (b) If this house is in the US... In 2003 the assessment of the US total national debit by the US Treasury estimated that 94% of homes and contents were owned by other nations. ie.. who is owned? At this time, hell know what it is, but gotta be a lot worse. The stuff about people dying... some ain't got a clue till it hits em. |

Anyone who thinks that a person with huge postcount must be either a player or a sig whore is an IDIOT. BTW you don't have to worry about paying rent, becaue you = living with parents, so you = OWNED. :glugglug |
btw Alex I am not the one who is lying to GFY'ers about certain things :Graucho

the 1995 Chicago heatwave, during which 739 people died in one week. ...
Chicago population of 2.9 million 739 dead in one week France population of 60 million 15,000 dead in one month. Both work out to 0.0025% But the deaths in france were spread over a month. So old people were 4 times more likely to die in Chicago than France on any one day over the period of the heatwave. Its around 100 degrees here today, but I've got my aircon on.. Damn someone in Spain with Electricity. |

Live in Florida for a while if you want to get an idea of what heat and humidity is like. Like most other things you get used to it. A/C here is a neccessity but you realize that you rely on it less than you would if you lived in a place that isn't hot most of the time.
|
15k in France and 20k in Italy is bullshit...
they just like to be dramatic, how else is it possible to explain the difference between these two and Spain with 101 dead? I was here in 2003 and went to France it was just as hot, even hotter in the south of Spain. It would be interesting to see how many old people died in 2004, probably around the same as 2003... |
