T-Mobile users - Sidekick?
How is the sidekick II compared to the Balckberry. I know they say Blackberry is the corporate tool, sidekick is for Hollywood types and kids blah blah blah. Basically need it for email, IM's, and basic internet. and of course phone. But it seems pretty cool and small.
Any testimonials? |

Not sure, but i'd be interested in hearing more about the blackberry.
I ran over my I860 last night after it fell under the car. ![]() |

If you need instant e-mail and your an e-mail freak get a blackberry....if you don't....don't bother...get a sidekick instead. Simple.

Both are good.
General rule of thumb should be if you primarily want it to keep up with our email, get the blackberry. If you want to surf more often and/or do alot of IM in addition to email, I'd give a slight nod to the sidekick. Both are now pretty solid in terms of phone function, that wasn't true a year ago, both companies improved the phone side dramatically with recent releases. The Blackberry 7100T even has bluetooth. Sidekick gets a nod for the cooler form factor, but it's at the expense of battery life. You'll wanna charge a sidekick nightly if you use it a lot, and also go ahead and buy the car charger right out of the gate. |

If you are doing tons of outbound emails and are heavy IM, then sidekick might be a better choice because of the bigger , complete keyboard. On the downside, the sidekick is big and bulky, has had some reliability issues, and is a bit awkward to use as a phone. If you are interested in mostly handling inound emails, doing light IM, want a decent selection of third party apps, and using the device as a phone, the 7100T is a better choice It is small, light, has better battery life than SK. It also has a speaker phone and bluetooth for a wireless headset. My only gripe is the screen is not so hot in direct sunlight. Please note the 7100T is a new form factor and is not the typical BB. The hybrid typing system does work VERY well. Both have very reasonable voice plans with unlimited data. ![]() ![]() |

Thanks guys. This has been a big help. For those that have a Blackberry 7100. How is the shared qwerty keyboard. And how does it compare with the 7290. Is it worth it to go with the bulkier 7290 for the full keyboard or is the 7100 easy to learn?

I'm in love with my blackberry - I had a sidekick but it seemed to flimsy so I went back to the balckberry. The sidekick however has great Instant messaging if you use it and are out a lot it'd probably be worth it....

Worried about speaker phone? get a nextel blackberry 7520. Bluetooth, Speakerphone, Direct Connect (2 way radio), 32mb of memory and all the functionality of a Blackberry.

And anybody who compares the Blackberry and Sidekicks e-mail functions need to be taken outside and shot. Not even a close comparison.
