Toshiba has the best screens, you wouldn't think that would be important in a smaller device, but it's critical.

This player is solid, weighs around 2lbs. with a battery. 9" screen.

If you need to go smaller Quiet, look to Panasonic's line, their 7" screen units are superior to Tosh's.

Love mine though, that Luminies game is crack...

Mako, thanks for the info. Any idea where to get something in the 10-12 inch range (with similar quality)? price is not an object...

Only Samsung makes a 12" model, the DVD-L1200, and it weighs a bit more, around 3.5lbs or so as far as I know. I haven't personally tried that model, but I'm sure it will be fine for what you're intending to use it for Quiet. I wouldn't hesitate under the same scenario.

The 12" is likely nice because you could set it up on a table a few feet away, and she could operate it via remote control without having that hot bastard lay on her all day.

The ones that are not flip ups, but where the screen is on the front and its similiar looking to a Sony PSP or a portable gaming system.. way cool, easier to use, and you can prop it up with a stand folding off the back like a picture frame, 7 inch screen was like $150 or so too. Not sure of the brand though.

Any 411 on how long these things last without a recharge? I have a long flight next week and one of these babies would be perfect in case I don't sleep.

It depends on a few things (brightness/volume/etc) but most last between 2.5 and 3.0 full hours on a single charge Kev. Subtract 30 minutes from whatever the mfg says it will last on the spec page and that's your real number.
