I heard PBS is electing a new Republican CEO that was former Republican Chairman.

I suppose after that we will stop seeing criticism of the government stories and will start seeing religious propaganda shows.

PBS is the only mainstream place left that has no problem with criticizing anyone within the government. That certainly is in jeopardy now.

There is also the BBC but they usually broadcast through PBS. It looks like the Dark side is finally taking over everything.

PBS is illevelent 99% of the time. PBS is essentially the old ice cream parlor of television. The grown ups don't like the food there anymore, but they'll get all pissed if someone tries to shut it down or (ready to stretch the metaphor) McDonalds buys it and turns it into a Bic Mac factory. I watched a very nice documentary on PBS the other night about old amusement parks. That was some quality tv. The thing is that PBS never paid to have it made. It was made by a production company and shopped to the networks that might be interested. The only other show on the network worth a shit is Antiques Roadshow and it was blatantly ripped off from the BBC.

Public television is a dinosaur that will die and I will be sad to see it go, but this isn't surprising.

What's even crazier than them wanting to make the former RNC co-chair the CEO of PBS is that she doesn't have a single bit of experience in the broadcasting industry.

YES SHE DOES!!!!! She's worked with the Pentagon's propoganda radio (voice of america) and tv stations for years, and praised the programs as a success in changing people's oppinions.

i find it odd that liberals are the only ones who are upset about this. any network funded by tax dollars, either fully or partially, shouldn't have an agenda. pbs has one. why would anyone care whos put in charge otherwise? al gore becomes a ceo of cnn. makes headlines because hes famous but other then that no one cares. al gore becomes ceo of fox news, every redneck bible thumper cries on wwjdforum.com and bush setups a inquiry panel.

When they research a subject and come up with a report, it is also rebraodcasted or referred to by other news media, either newspaper, magazines , radio or television.

The more indepedent news sources available, the more chances one of them will be telling you the truth...

Unless you prefer not to know and listen and watch " embedded" newscasters....

If Dan rather can slant the news to an anti American view and make money doing it, more power to them fleecing idiots. PBS, however, must be held to a higher standard of impartiality.
