With all of these people leavin the biz

Do you think that's part of the plan? Does the federal government want to bully/scare as many pornographers as possible out of the business?

Tala the real abusers never cared about the law anyhow, they will stay around unless they are arrested.

People who are leaving either do not want to expose themselves to the risk of prosecution or realize they were breaking the law and do not want to continue.

Just like a lock keeps honest people honest, this enforcement will drive out honest people who do not want to take the risk. It will not affect real businesses or the very people the law is intended to target.

Thats absolutely the plan! This administration may do some stupid things, but they ain't dumb. It's all about scare tactics and they covered it all, producers, talent and folks just making a living on advertising it...everybody involved in the adult industry is at risk and all in the name of protecting the children. This isn't about anything but trying to do away with porn and getting america more focused on religion! They know damn well it isn't helping the fight against child exploitation, anybody with common sense can see these new regulations are intended to punish people from doing something that is not only legal but protected by our constitution!

It's much easier to get 1000 webmasters to quit than to put 10 in jail. The fewer people they have to choose from to investigate in the first place the easier it is on them. As soon as some poor sap just trying to make a few extra bucks is busted you'll see a huge drop in the number of webmasters out there. At least on the American side.

The sky is not falling. If people do leave, it won't be anyone who would make a significant difference to anyone anyway. Think: small, part timers. Which come and go anyway. Not everyone in this industry is in the US and it is easily possible to be 2257 compliant. I have been before it was even an issue. This industry, just like any other, is all about adapting. This is a technology age... we just need the rest of the US and its ancient laws and officials to get up to speed. Although, them not being completely up to speed is probably in our favor at this time, because they could make things a LOT worse.

Oh and they will make examples out of people... the US government loves to do that. Where is Osama bin Laden? Who knows... but rest assured, we know where Martha Stewart is after she served time at Camp Cupcake.

2257 shouldn't stop alot of people, I'd expect most have some kind of content management system for adding and removing galleries, if not i'd have to ask why

I'd expect the smaller webmaster to use mostly sponsor hosted galleries, so it's not their problem. Then its just a case of manually deleting files and updating links for their few own hosted galleries.

I'd like to see what the softcore conversion ratio is going to be like compared to the companies giving out encrypted model info and still promoting with hardcore.

So really the people leaving the business now either want to get out or just can't deal with the hassles involved anymore.
