I own an elise, and I can't recommend it highly enough if you really love driving. It's hard to get into, but plenty big inside; I'm 6' 1" and don't even have to put the driver's seat all the way back, and with either the soft or hardtop on, there's plenty of room to wear a helmet.
It's an absolute blast to drive, much closer to a shifter kart than it is to any other car I've driven. It's faster than it feels; 4.4s 0-60 is pretty reasonable, and once you get to the higher end valve timing at 6200rpm, it's got quite a kick. And going around corners, well, it feels like a kart. However, if you want a GT type car that's comforatble for long trips, has a killer stero, has cupholders and amenities like a glove compartment or power mirrors, this isn't the car for you. Cheers -b |

in fact, i'd recommend it over all of those cars. it sits right between the boxster and the elise in terms of comfort and sharpness. i suppose that's why the yellow one is mine :) |
the lotus may top out at 155, but it can do 90 degrees turns at 155 :)

Don't fuck around -- Get the Elise. It's basically a race car that somehow squeeked by the rules and managed to be certified street legal. Here's a little video of an Elise vs. Ferrari F40. The Elise probably put down less than 200hp at the wheels. Now if you're really serious with it, and don't want to lose on the street, you can take your Elise to my friends shop Autologic and they'll squeeze out well over 500hp at the wheels to your Elise. Over 700whp if you got the means. Imagine that in a 1900lbs platform.

I think the lotus is a nice car.
|
get the boxter
|
If you are looking for a fast car, the lotus would also be good for that.

Here you go read this: http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....age_num ber=1
They compare the BMW Z4 3.0i, Chevrolet Corvette Coupe, Dodge Viper SRT-10, Honda S2000, Lotus Elise, Mercedes-Benz SLK350, Nissan 350Z 35th Anniversary, Porsche Boxster S and Porsche Carrera S Coupe. |
You may want to get the Exige over the Elise. Unfortunately in the US you can't get the 240HP Exige that does 0-60 in under 4 secs for $55K because they did not put airbags in it.

Plus its also the less confort one, handling wise there are also much better and safer options... Just because it has a very good hp/weight ratio doesn't mean its the "best" far from it...If you want a car that looks better and has a better hp/weight performance than get a Atom http://www.atspeedimages.com/mel2001...ariel_atom.jpg http://www.arielmotor.co.uk/04/frames.htm BTW here is the top gear hall of fame of their lap times: 1st Maserati MC12 - 1.18.9 2nd Ferrari F60 Enzo - 1.19.0 3rd Ariel Atom - 1.19.5 4th Porsche Carerra GT - 1.19.8 5th Mercedes McLaren SLR - 1.20.9 Ford GT - 1.21.9 :thumbsup |
