The 3rd room. If the lions haven't eaten in 3 years, they're dead.

Okay.

A tree will only grow so tall. That's it's half-life. After that, it only gets more rings until it dies. Its branches dance in the breeze, and it breathes, but not the way you and I do.

That help?

The last part I get, but the first line still doesn't make sense to me. Oh well :upsidedow

Trees are essentially dying until they reach maturity. At which point, they don't grow any taller but may still "live" after reaching maturity. Trees, unlike humans, have generating, not regenerating systems. Once a cell on a tree dies, its parts and the cell itself remain dead. However, new cells and cell parts (leaves or needles) can still grow (live) but will be in a different spatial position.

I hope this helps.

3 girls share a room at 30$, they pay 10$ each. The tender feel guilty and send the janitor to give back 5$, on his way to the room he realise that he cant equaly split the 5$ in 3 so he decide to keep 2$ and give the girls 1$ each.

The girls paid 9$ each that's 27$ +the 2$ the janitor kept make it 29$.

Where is the missing 1$?

The janitor's $2 should be added to the manager's $25 or subtracted from the girls' $27, not added to the girls' $27.

reynold 06-23-2005 08:27 PM

30-money actually paid
5-retuned
3-to each of them
2-went to the janitor

25-3=28
The actual money paid by girls is $28 not $27!

$30 - $5 for janitor to refund the girls = $25
$25 + $3 returned to the girls = $28
$28 + $2 from the janitor = $30

Ok ok, i got to admit that this one is better in spoken mode.

Ya know, I was going to post that but decided to post the disgusted faces instead. I hate having to over-explain myself. In any event, I'm glad you saw it. :)

sniperwolf 06-23-2005 09:36 PM

$25 (cash on hand) + $2 (janitor) = $ 27 (pd. by girls) + $3(refund) = $30 payment received

same as

30-(9x3)pd by girls = 3(refund) + 2(janitor)=$5 returned.

Ok, here's an old one but a classic since I love mythology.

What walks on four legs in the morning, two legs in the evening, and three legs at night?

Yes, it's very old and refers to "man" walking on all fours as an infant, two legs as an adult and with a cane in his/her elderly years.

Good one!

So how are things back in the hell that is Tennessee?

Sana Chan 06-24-2005 08:53 PM

Alright. Bizzy is a happy girl. Will hopefully have the money to get her shots next week. I'm still working at hell, though may be moving up in the hierarchy. How's things down there in Shakey Town?
