How many of you have wrist problems or carpel tunnel?

I started developing hand problems from computer usage back in 1999. My hands would get really cold, but they didn't hurt.

I bought an ergonomic chair, got an adjustable height table -- made a huge difference.

I've had problems on and off but today my right hand is killing me and its moving up my arm. I might have to start using my mouse with my left arm

      I did a while back.

I got a Herman Miller knock off chair (best thing I have ever spent money on), set everything up right and do LOTS of stretching throughout the day.

Now I feel great and both my wrists and my back thank me.

I had some problems before when I had a regular mouse. But no problems since I got a Microsoft Optical Trackball.

My hands also got cold before. But I also solved that problem by lowering the keyboard (or raising the chair) couple of inches. Also make sure that you don't have a lot of weight on your elbows (cuts off circulation).

Only time when my hands get a little stiff now is when I work 48h days, but I wouldn't expect anything else

Yeah, I have carpal tunnel... it sucks but I don't even notice it anymore because I'm so used to it. I wake up with my hands, arms etc numb. I'm numb to the pain now lol

Well,if i stretch my arm in certain ways it gets all tingly. You know what really helps a lot, just do a search in Google for a proggie called "rsiguard or rsi guard". I use it; it just clicks everything for you when you mouse over it. I think wrist problems are caused by "mousing" too much and i submit a lot of galleries and this way i don't have to click anything. It's probably not good if u do design or stuff like that but it's great for surfing, submitting stuff like that. Takes some getting used to. People who are not used to it get very annoyed by it when they use my pc!

I also sometimes use heat on my arm and massage it. It's sore a lot, the entire arm, even in my elbow and my upper arm... I find heats helps a lot! I am also always massaging my own arms when watching tv and i make my boyfriend massge them too! I think yuu can reverse it a lot by massage... and use icy hot or something like that.

Yup, I've had it before big time. Wore a wrist brace for a year, even switched the mouse over to the left hand for a year, back in like 2001. Lost most of the feeling in my right hand and some of the fingers too for a long while, but it's all pretty good now. My carpal is in a holding pattern. :D

I had 'golfers' elbow in the days before my wheel mouse. I had to have a steroid shot straight into the bone...not something I want to do again.

                                      http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...tware&n=507846

Takes 3 days to get used to it, after that you'll never go back to a regular keyboard.

I have 3 different mice on my desk at all times, generally I use: http://www.evoluent.com which is my favorite. Also have the trackball posted which is good for a change and the standard mouse for added diversity.

Yea, that is what i use, I have the auto-click on to click real fast because I find the default too slow, I like it to click right after I mouse on something right away. I do find that it helps A LOT, that plus a mousepad with a gel wristpad...

Even so my arm still gets sore sometimes, I have to stretch it out all the time; I can really feel the muscles tense up when I stretch out my arms... But glad you like the auto-click, I LOVE it! I would not be able to work without it... I am willing to bet that the arm that bugs people the most is the one they use when mousing...

Yeah, I have a mousepad with a gel wristpad; for some wierd reason for the two or three years I had it it was great -- but about 2 years ago it started bothering the hell out of me -- so now I have it turned sideways (I never could find another mousepad I liked as much as this one )

If your desperate you can ask for cortizone shots into your wrist/shoulder/elbow.

But yes i had some crazy problems with carpal tunnel like symptoms ( but expert said it wasn't carpal tunnel and couldnt figure out the exact cause/effect other than the pain )

Shooting pains and internal arm pains from the hand all the way up the arm to the shoulder and even the upper back, It got so bad i couldnt type or roll a joint. I thought i was going nuts, strated having panic attack type symptoms with no panic at all , just watching t.v. After trying everything i took someone's advice and got a new chair , new desk and wrist support for the mouse and everything just VANISHED like it never existed , haven't had any problems since..

been on the pc evryday for 8 years now and have had zero problems, infact I feel great when on and off the pc.

The trick is to keep using the muscles you dont when on the pc for those 2-3 day runs and get a big desk where you are comfortable working for hours on end. make sure your wrist is in a natural position and the odd jerking off session during the day doesn't hurt either...

                                                            ;)
