                I've noticed that as well, I've had a few sites hit #1-3 spots within days of putting the sites up, and then dropping a few weeks afterwards

                                                yep. They're spammers. Many of the top spots are total bullshit keyword loaded and totally unreadable, spam pages. A real site has content of some value.
