Anybody make the switch to a Mac?
What was the hardest part about switching from a PC to a Mac?
Any regrets? What are the main benefits and what is a good entry level Mac? |

I cant even use a PC let alone having to learn how to use another type of computer.
Most people I know that run MACs would never go to a PC and it seems as though once you move to a MAC you never come back! |

I made the switch to a Mac 12" PowerBook recently and love it. The thing I love about the Mac is it just works! Networking etc that you had to fight with on the PC just works so easily on the Mac. That and the fact that OS X is based on the BSD kernal you have all the power and flexability of *NIX.
I opted for a 12" PowerBook because I have the flexibility to carry around all my work and by simply plugging in a 20" LCD monitor when I get the office I have plenty of realestate to work with. Make the swith man, I know I'm loving not having to worry about M$ viruses ;) |

Pricing is one of the major aspects that I'm looking at but from what I have read Macs last a very long time.
Right now I'm looking at the low end iBook, with my student discount the retail is $899.00 which isn't that bad. 1.2GHz PowerPC G4 512K L2 cache @ 1.2GHz 12-inch TFT Display 1024x768 resolution 256MB DDR266 SDRAM 30GB Ultra ATA drive CD-ROM ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 32MB DDR video memory AirPort Extreme ready I was going to add a bluetooth modem as well as more memory. |

I made the switch last summer. What a great year. I've purchased 5 Macs in the last year and currently have 4 of them (traded one to someone who desperately needed it).
The hardest part is just getting used to how everything works. It's definitely different. Two weeks of frustration has been followed by a whole lot of pleasure. ![]() |

My first Mac was an Apple II GS (you had to boot it from a 5.25 inch floppy disk). That was probably before some of you were born.
20+ computers later (almost all Macs, except for a few token PCs I needed for contract jobs), and I've never looked back. I should own stock in Apple. Oh wait, I do own stock in Apple...lots of it, since the 80's (the iPod is my new best friend). Nice... ![]() ADG Webmaster |

Made the change two years ago, I have never considered switching back. OSX is a great operating system and as said above everything works, no viruses, no trojans fewer headaches all around.
