SEO Course / Seminar question

I was wondering if there is any official seminars on university or college that teaches SEO. I know there are private seminars you can learn but which college major do you have to take in order to learn it ?

Is it part of computer science or internet marketing at business schools ?

Anyone knows something about that ?

nah not as major sorry I have expressed myself in w wrong way.
I mean if your major is computer science than maybe you have one course of many which would be internet marketing and SEO. just like programming and things like that ,,

PhD wouldnt be possible just a summer school or sth

I've never heard of any educational institution teaching SEO.

Any degree in SEO would be useless in about 3 years anyways.

It's not an SEO course perse, but Combinatorics & Optimization courses are the basis for most advanced SEO algorithms. I majored in CS and C&O and let's say learning SEO from that basis was rather simple. SEO is more of an application of the theories in C&O.

Agreed. I am a CS major too and I have to say that SEO is in large part logic and problem solving.

Currently some colleges are offering degrees or classes in Internet Marketing. Although they won't give you the keys to an algorithim that will change in a few months, they will give you the mindset to be a good SEO.

To be good at SEO, I've always felt you needed a few skills:

1) Math and Logic. You just have to know how to figure out problems and why things are happening. I can remember a few logic classes in college that really helped me in the industry.

2) Study. Read the SEO boards, read the books and articles by the respected names in the industry. Talk to other SEOs, and just pick up knowledge. A lot of the best stuff I learned came from picking the brains of others who were succesful.

3) Research. Books, articles, and all the math skills in the world can't show you what to do. You have to see it for yourself. You have to see how tweaking something can change your rankings. You have to make mistakes along the way.

If someone were to offer this on an offshore outsourced basis for $500 a month, would people be interested? I ask because some people might think $500 may be too much.

Offering what exactly?

There are some things in SEO that I would and have paid to have done offshore.

Thanks. I'm looking for link building to be outsourced. Just too expensive and time consuming to deal with here.
