I love UFC, but they have to do something about grappling problem, it takes to long.... but on the other hand its nice to see someone in guard receiving 12 knock out bangers and still get outta there...

With UFC they have to stop the fighters being able to talk to much in the microphone, some of them get really disrespectfull... getting towards the fake drama like WWF...

Martial Arts has always been respectfull sports.... Cut off the microphones and lets get it on! :)

oh totally... someone has to teach tito ortiz to shut the fuck up...

Whoa homie!

I never compared them, only my distaste for it. I'll only watch boxing events if it's a championship fight, other than that, not really interested.

As for comparing them, I wasn't the one who brought up Mirko Cro Cop beinga K1 fighter and doing well in Pride. :)

You are on drugs Nick. :)

First UFC was a tournament, in fact the first 4 were. It showed the world that Muay Thai, Karate, Judo, Japanese Jiu Jitsu, Kenpo, etc. had absolutely no chance against Gracie/Brazillian Jiu Jitsu. I guess it's because prior to 1993, no one worried about the grappling "problem". :1orglaugh

Do you hate the grappling "problem" because you don't understand it, or can't defend against it? :)

As for the shit talking, that happens in boxing all the time, heard of Ali? Were any of his fights fake? Or maybe that parkinson he has now is just another marketing ploy?

MMA is not TMA. There is respect, there are hugs and handshakes after fights, yes from those same fighters that talked shit to each other before.

Get with the times Bro. You trained in one of the cornerstone styles in MMA. Muay Thai kicks and strikes are used all the time, because they are effective, and because they tie in with a shoot or pummeling so well.

The Phillipines have been keeping up in the MMA world, take a look and maybe train. http://www.pinoymma.com/

The grappling problem LMAO .... Jeez.... Grappling is the most exciting technical part of fighting. If you understood the game you would love it. Of course everyone loves the one punch knock out... But I would rather watch a technical ground fight over a stand up match any day.

Pride Critical Countdown 2005 is going to kickass

Mirko's BJJ is untested, but he has the best sprawl/takedown defense in MMA.

Ruas is awesome. Track down his movie with Bas Rutten "The Eliminator." Classic B-Movie. Get drunk with your bros and let the good times roll.

UFC's were tournaments past the first 10. I have this great 5 VHS boxed set of the first 5 and then random other old UFCs.

Who's going to win the Grand Prix? I'd love to see Sakuraba or Igor, but i gotta go with Silva or Lil Nog.

yeah i'd love to see sakuraba win it but it ain't gonna happen... i think igor might win it... silva looked way way small in his last fight against yoshida...

I think Silva is off the juice. Hopefully planning on a future main event or title fight in the states =)

Probably wishful thinking. His traps used to look huge though.

Vitasoy 06-17-2005 05:22 PM

I think Silva will be winning it again.

Agreed, Wrestling became watered-downed and more like a soap opera years ago - quantity over quality, I guess (Ditto for boxing). The real passion, intensity that the UFC brings is refreshing. Hope it gets more exposure in the future! :thumbsup
