yeah they were good
|
Two weeks ago me and a friend were drinking some beer here. After some time he looked at me and said "I want Rage Against the Machine now".
LOL Didn't listen to them since 2 or 3 years. Well, it became a cool evening ;) |
check out zach de la rocha's new single "i want it now" sounds like the band never disbanded. you can find it on itunes

I really like Rage but I find myself sometimes laughing at the hypocracy of the group. they rail against the free market and promote a more "socialist/communist" type of world were everyone helps everyone else out and money is not the #1 motivation for peoples actions. That's not a bad idea, but the problem is that the machine they are raging against is also the same one that has allowed them to excel in a free martket/capitolist world and make millions and millions of dollars from thier message.
I understand that they do a lot of good with thier money, but without the system they rail against, most people would have never heard of them. |

Cool, I will check it out. |
They created a seamless hybrid of rap and metal. Nobody has done it better before or since.

Someone once made a joke (SNL? I can't remember) that now that they're millionairres they're changing their name to Mildly Annoyed At The Machine. I think that pretty well sums it up. R.I.P RATM |

I didn't even realize that Rick Rubin produced RATM until looking at this back cover. It makes sense now, the guy has been a metal and hip hop junky since the early 80's. Rick Rubin is the same guy that produced for The Cult, Slayer, and so many other metal bands, as well as Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, and so many other hip hop groups on the legendary Def Jam label (the label that he and Russell Simmons founded). RATM falls right into the tradition. |

Have you heard the Richard Cheese version of Guerilla Radio? It's great. |
Rage is the shit. I think they have a couple newer songs, March of Death and We Want it All. Download them if you don't already have them, they're classics. I'm holding my breath on a new album.

Rick Rubin is fucking awesome. I always used to see him driving around in hollywood with a black Rolls Royce. |
You should get into Zach's band before that: Inside Out. You can order their record here: revhq.com
He also play guitar (i think) for a band called Hard Stance before that, but they weren't the greatest. I wasn't a big Rage fan but Zach had a great voice. |
Sleep now in the fire!!!
They did a great cover of Fuck the Police. The opening is classic. |

Oh hell yeah, I was an evil teen! LOL. RATM was my first concert at age 16, and the first time I was in a mosh pit that nearly killed me, and the first time I was in a police riot right afterwards. Man, that was an awesome night! WG |

Anyone ever listen to Inside Out - The band Zack did before RATM - who developed the whole idea and whose next record was going to be called "Rage Against The Machine" before some whacko decided to quit the band and become a hare krishna?
Here's some info: http://static-void.com/vault/InsideOut.htm Achem |
