Dude, where's woj? ;)

xlogger 06-12-2005 09:10 AM

I tell you one thing, get going now because after a while limiewire will start filtering/banning IPS after seeing the problem.

Its easy to get more of those :1orglaugh

Besides, they haven't banned the RIAA-hired goons who seed millions of bogus music files yet, so why would they ban small to medium sized porn spammers?

I have never really tried, but i pretty much think i know how it is done.

Also, you said the same file with different names wont get picked up, how does it know it is the same file?

And i dont want to host the files off my PC, but how do you host them off a server and how much BW do you burn?

unless he puts a different url on every image... then it's possible

these are the stats form his p2p client - they show that
file#1 was downloaded 1500 times
file#2 was downlaoded 1345 times
etc

I'm not familiar with LimeWare so I could be worng, but I don't think I am

p.s. I sent you an email back ;)

alexg 06-12-2005 09:13 AM

btw I'm wandering what spammers usually promote this way

the traffic must be crap when it comes to buying anything

$1 email programs?

Most likely. Usually programs that offer free shit in exchange for an email.

SO email programs for free/$1 trials maybe.

another good trick is to write something useful like a e-book (ding ding) and share it

Prob is you get 10 download for a ebook compiled with a exe when you have 200k download for a video

He took care of the old 1997 trick, there is 2 trick you can use again. Just need to read the fine print in Media Player manual. If you read carefully, you will notice you can use a banner rotator in real time direct inside your movies pulled direct from your server. If 100k of your videos are shared over p2p , you can modify banners in real time on all of them. You can also open console, etc etc

exact same filesize... image size maybe?

kernelpanic 06-12-2005 09:17 AM

If the surfers had credit cards and were willing to spend the usual $30/month for porn, then they wouldn't be looking for porn on p2p :2 cents:

Lime is indexed by sha1, although I'm sure they do some additional, unreported checking for blatantly duplicate crap like this.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 06-12-2005 09:19 AM

That does not mean anything.

Problem with P2P is pulling the traffic and getting them on Webpages that sell them and ultimatly provide ya with a sign up.

p2p is suicide without DRM.

well, depends on how accurately you measure the filesize..

I don't think you have hundreds of files that are exactly x.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx mb

well you get the point..

and there's also the size of the images in pixels..

but these are just ideas i'm raising.. i have no clue how limewire does it.

At the very least, you could send them to a popup/autoinstaller laden page and still make money, if it was blind traffic. It costs almost nothing to generate this kind of traffic, even if it is complete crap.

true, and also when we speak about image files (10k-100k) these are huge files compared to '101010101' so it is VERY unlikely that two different images will have the exact same size to the very last bit.

kernelpanic 06-12-2005 09:33 AM

This is how limewire determines "unique" files:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SHA1

Many p2p apps use this or another algorithm (md5), which are both collision resistant enough from a spammers perspective to be considered identical.

chm, catchy file names, thousands of instances in your shared folder (just add a word or two so they are not seen as duplicates)

Yeah.
People love that I heard.

Which is why P2P is like squeezing blood from a lemon.

I'm selling software to do this if anyone wants to give this traffic source a try -> ICQ: 33375924

djscrib 06-14-2005 01:57 PM

Well I've been using P2P drm advertising for awhile and admittedly the traffic is worse than other sources.

I use two affiliaites. Smashbucks which is converting at around 1:650 and AFF which is around 1:400 (including rebills so that ratio is probably a bit worse).

These numbers are based on unique IP click-thrus. I have around a 1:8 click-thru rate.

So not the best traffic out there, but not worthless either.

More Booze 06-14-2005 02:01 PM

So, how do you guys send traffic to sponsors?
When I tried it I used popups in wmv and asf files, but it doesn't work anymore under windows XP.

Fukeneh 06-14-2005 02:14 PM

p2p is dead. your wasting your time.

There's no money in newsgroup spamming or p2p spamming or SEO.

Let this thread die now.

You make it sound like what RIAA are doing is a bad thing.

For some reason I get a feeling you're a pathetic Slashdot geek who believes everything should be free? Remind me how great the Communist system and USSR was :1orglaugh
