One of the daughters of Minnesota Attorney General Mike Hatch denies hitting a Chicago police officer but admits kicking out a back window on a police car.
Anne Hatch took the stand today in Chicago, where she and her 23-year-old sister, Elizabeth, are on trial on misdemeanor counts of battery, resisting arrest and criminal damage to a vehicle. The charges stem from a scuffle with officers outside a Chicago night club last year.
Anne Hatch told a judge that she kicked the window because she heard her sister yelling outside the car that her arm was going to be broken. When a prosecutor asked her how hard she kicked it, the 22-year-old replied: "I'm a soccer player; it was a good kick."
The sisters contend they never hit police and didn't try to use their father's position to get special treatment. Other testimony contradicts that.
