My favorite role of hers was Ma in Torch Song Trilogy.

Now, how did I know you would be the only person other than me to get this on here first. I just saw it flash up. I loved her in Torch Song but my absoulte faveorite is 84 Charing Cross Road. I can't believe I walk past that address atleast once a week now.

By far one of my favorite actresses of all time.

Sad day indeed
I really liked her and Mel Brooks in the underrated To be Or Not To Be, especially her line to the Nazis "First you invade Poland, then you invade Warsaw, then you invade my dressing room... you people are compulsive invaders!"

good film that I was oddly thinking about the other day when I watched Spaceballs again. I think I always liked her because she came off as a smart lady and didn't dumb herself down.

i still would have tagged her as recently as 1997 (G.I. Jane), though that probably says more about me than her.

Such a lovely, intelligent and humorous woman...

If you get a chance, check out Anne Bancroft's Academy Award winning performance in "The Miracle Worker" in which she plays a tutor to the deaf and blind Helen Keller (played by Patty Duke). Truly acting at it's finest.

She will be missed...

RIP Anne Bancroft

you just described my grandparents. when my grandpa died you could almost see my grandmas spirit leave with him. she was never the same after that.

*** while typing this I asked my wife how soon after my grandpa died did my grandma follow. She said 15 years. I guess thats right but it was a sad lonely 15 years. The fun loving woman who was always laughing, always leaving the home to help others was suddenly quiet. Always sitting on the couch with a defeated expression on her face. The smile was gone, the jokes were gone.... the will was gone. I think the reason why I have always thought she died soon after is because she really did die. On the inside.

"Here's to you Mrs. Robinson"

"We'd like to know
A little bit about you
For our files.
We'd like to help you learn
To help yourself.
Look around you. All you see
Are sympathetic eyes.
Stroll around the grounds
Until you feel at home.

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson,
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Wo wo wo
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson,
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
Hey hey hey, hey hey hey
Hide it in a hiding place
Where no one ever goes.
Put it in you pantry with your cupcakes.
It's a little secret,
Just the Robinsons' affair.
Most of all, you've got to hide it
from the kids.

Coo coo ca-choo, Mrs. Robinson,
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Wo wo wo

God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson,
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
Hey hey hey, hey hey hey

Sitting on a sofa
On a Sunday afternoon,
Going to the candidates' debate,
Laugh about it,
Shout about it,
When you've got to choose,
Every way you look at it you lose.

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio?
A nation turns its lonely eyes to you
Ooo ooo ooo.

What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson?
"Joltin' Joe has left and gone away"
Hey hey hey, hey hey hey "

I give her 2

Simon and Garfunkel.

Download everything you can, trust me, they will take your mind to a new place and the melodies are superb.

I think my two most favorite are "Richard Cory" and "Somewhere they can't find me" amongst 25 others or so.

damn that is a sad passing. Mel Brookes and Ann Bancroft seemed like a great couple - maybe the most normal down to earth couple in Hollywood.

he's gotta be devastated - some couples, not many, you can see are in love even after years and years together. doesn't happen much anymore - people are quitters these days.
