2257 and MODEL RELEASES...Doesn't Say Anything About It.

    2257 and MODEL RELEASES...Doesn't Say Anything About It.

    In the actual 2257 New Regulations it talks about Photo ID's etc., but say nothing about Model Releases, which is a CONTRACT between model and photographer. Yes it is good for webmasters to know when buying from a content producer if he has the RIGHT to sell the models images, but I don't see ANY reference to it as part of the 2257 Regs or required for record keeping or inspections.

    The only thing I can think of is the DATE the model was photographed, or any aliases, but those bits of info can be shown and proved by other means.

    Any comments? Am I mistaken?

      You're correct, a release isn't required for 2257, but it is required for other reasons. (copyright etc)

      For 2257 you do need some way of proving what date the content was produced though, and the easiest way to do that is with the model release. (since you already have one)

          We got all our docs in order, was just curious what was up with that. You are right though, it's like a catch 22.

              notice that 2257 didn't mention needing a valid ID either (unless i missed that part LOL)

              so i guess expired driver's licenses and expired US passports are both fine since all they want is to establish the DOB?

                      I wouldn't count on it. I've been unable to use expired IDs as proof of age before, since the older IDs were "easier to counterfeit"
