ok, does anyone know how the hell to do this? i couldn't get liveupdate to tell me i needed to renew so i just went to their website and renewed it manually but now i have to put in this serial key and the way they tell me to do it, doesn't work. its driving me up the wall. i follow their instructions, and all goes as they say it will up to a point. then it tells me if i get this error to do this

"What to do if you received the error "LU1814: LiveUpdate could not retrieve the update list"
You may get this error message if LiveUpdate is in Express Mode. LiveUpdate is in Express Mode if the first LiveUpdate window looks like the picture below. Follow the steps in the yellow box to switch LiveUpdate modes."

so i do that but its in interactive mode already for me. then they say if it is already in interactive mode to close liveupdate and the program and try again, well i did but the same damn thing happened.

anyone else run into this? if so, what did you do? i know i had problems last year too but got it to work somehow, i just wish i remembered how.
