I have the canon s400 and the Sony t7 ... i love them both ..canon takes slightly better pics but the t7 is some small and i use it 75% of the time ...

a bigger budget would help... I'd go for ebay and take a chance on getting a more pro level camera, just not the newest.

ya can get a canon coolpix 5700 in the price range. That's a prosumer line. Maybe a newer camera in that price range would be better? You'll look more pro with an SLR style body....

Don't claim to be a pro on cameras. Think most of the GFYers spend more bucks...

LOL...Most of the GFYers are broke ass wannabe's.

The price range is fine and there are several great cameras that can be had within that budget.

I personally suggest that you look at the Canon line at the $399 price point.

The S and SD series are pretty good. I have recommended them for many friends and relatives over the years and they have all been very happy. In fact, my mother bought the SD300 last week.

Don't claim to be a pro on cameras. Think most of the GFYers spend more bucks...

I like cannon - clear pictures and very realistic colors
Try A80 or A95 - very good cams

One thing to consider....The A series use AA batteries which do not last as long a the Lithium batteries....Not even close. BUT you can pick up a pack of AA's pretty much everywhere if you need to.

Been there, done that. I got tired of constant dead batteries so I upgraded.

i recommend you spend a little time at http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html and check out reviews in the 4 and 5 megapixel section.

after a large review of each camera listed, there is a conclusion for each camera, and at the bottom of the conclusion page, there is a page showing actual pics taken with the camera.
