If it was I could only imagine the uproar and bad pr our industry would get for fighting such a thing.

Then again maybe someone could get the morality people to fight it, since they hate everything porn.

As long as it's 'voluntary' move to .xxx domain for porn site owners, would it change anything besides the opportunity of showing some good will by adult webmasters?

It seems (and I thank polish_aristocrat for pointing that out to me in time because I didn't do research about this earlier) that new.net are just scammers, pure and simple. their "TLDs" are worth shit because you have to install a plugin to be able to view them...

I find it hard to believe that ICANN would agree to have any affiliation with them...
