Accroding to Greg B i have a very logical explanation for the lack of UFO's.

The news channels figured that for the biggest event since the birth of baby Jesus Christ things would get too crowded (bandwidth issues for example) so they put the
UFO dude on a contract and prosponed the thing until they figured out their logistics.
