My mom talks to me like I'm a little kid...

Anyone else get this? I really don't understand it. I don't think I've ever had a regular conversation with my mom, she doesn't ask me normal questions or talk to me as if I have half a brain. She always talks with a voice that you would use with a 7 year old and just plain doesn't have adult conversations with me.

    I'm confused. Way confused.

If I confronted her about this she would cop attitude and then start talking all professional like. There's no winning.

My mum used to do this till I told her not to patronise me. Now she only does it when she's drunk. I don't put up with shit.

Just tell her Sly, if she still does it... let me know, I'll come over and kick her ass!

Yeah, My mom does this to me as well. I asked her about it and she looked right at me and said, No matter how old you get you will always be my child......

                Its just a mom thing.

My mom is like this too!! I think she thinks i am too young to date around even if I just turned 27! She thinks I am still 12. And she is always patronizing me and
nagging me to go back to school. She thinks I am a failure because I don't have
an advanced degree and am working as a doctor/pharmacist/computer programmer like everyone else in the family. I really can't stand it so that' s why
I barely see her. I haven't visited her for over a year.

Plus just constantly nagging me to go to university. I think she just wants me to go because all my cousins my age are already doctors and lawyers and she just wants to compete with them so she can say "MY daughter is this and that...." I just can't take it anymore!! Asian parents are CRAZY!

Plus always yelling at me how I dress. I think she wants me to wear a freakin' suit or something. She is just nuts...

lived independently at the age of 16, had my own appartment
and the best thing is having your own freedom and decision.
ived grown to be a better and successful son even without
the presence of my parents and they are both proud of what
                    I am right now.

School in my situation was very weird. My dad thought I was stupid for going to school, he wanted me to drop-out and do my own thing. I don't think my mom really cares what I do as long as I enjoy myself. My grandparents seemed pretty disappointed when I dropped out, most of my older cousins all have degrees and EVERYONE else in the family is on track to get a degree (we're talking 25+ cousins.) So when I quit they were really confused. They bugged me for 2 years about going back to school, my grandpa finally gave up. Now he just asks about girls all the time, haha. I don't think my grandparents really "get it" though, my grandma is always asking if I need any help or if I need money.

When parents are like this it really pushes their kids away. I left home when I was around 19 or so and I don't visit every often. The few times that I did it's just constant nagging.

There have been times when I visit her only once or a few times a year, even though we live around 20 min away. I think she thinks I can't take care of myself and that someone is always trying to take advantage of me or use me. She doesn't give me any credit at all. I know it bothers her a lot that I don't visit her, but perhaps if she wasn't so overbearing I would. Last time I saw her was over a year ago.

We started arguing really bad when I was in high school and they say it gets better as you get out of your teenage yrs and become an adult. Well, for me, it never got better, only WORSE. And I don't think it ever will either.

Man I am so there. My father still acts like I am 12 and I still need to help his ass every second of the day around the house. He still busts my balls about not cutting the fucking grass for him. I stopped that shit around 18... Now i'm 25 soon too be 26 you would think he would get the point.

I know it sounds petty and ppl will say when he's gone you'll regret not having him around... But you ppl dont know my father. The man cannot sit still. He has to be working on something 24/7. He likes to schedule shit for himself every waking second of the day. Unnescarry shit, shit that doesnt need to be done. Everyone in the family thinks he's crazy sometimes....

Now lets not talk about my mother... She thinks she's 16 again....

And then they wonder why I am going to move further away in august.

It's too bad Ed Gein's house isn't still standing, I'd drive to Indiana and go through it.
