Who here hosts/has hosted with WEBAIR?

How has your experience been? Would you recommend them?

Is the tech support not always around or do they not always fix problems?

I use them for 2 of my sites but one of their tech support guys pretty much guaranteed that I will never use them again nor will I recommend them. The hosting has been ok, but he left a real bad taste in my mouth.

I am no player or bigshot by any means, but you treat your small customers the same way you treat your big ones in my opinion. That's just good business.

I don't particularly care for their stats system, sometimes mysql databases take a while to get setup, not all of my sub domains have stats for one reason or another and from time to time, my sites are either very slow loading or don't load at all when at other times they are very fast to load.

Rating 6/10

I am not trying to bash them either. These are just my PERSONAL experiences with them. I am sure there are people who have never had a problem at all.

Im affraid the support really does suck..... If you can get past that then the hosting itself is fine

What is it about the support that sucks? They're not around or they just don't fix problems?

We have been with them for over 4 years and I have had great support from them. Mike is a stand up guy and has taken very good care of us.

For one they treat you like an idiot when you have real concerns about something. Even if you have no idea about server stuff, and see something odd, and bring it to their attention in an attempt to do something good. I think his exact words were, "I don't see where this has anything to do with anything" and "I don't see where this is even remotely relevant". That was after I had explained that I wasn't sure what I was looking at but just wanted to bring it to their attention INCASE there was a problem. They need to be a bit more personable IMO and understand that not everyone who rents server space with them studys the world of servers 24/7 nor do normal Joe's like myself follow everything that's ever happened in the news with servers, viruses, hacks and the like.

Thing with tech support is, they are around. But I doubt they have any real techs there. If you need Perl modules or any other server things installed and you dunno how to do it yourself then you have to wait a few days. But other than that they are def the best host.

So far I've been with them for about a year, first with a virtual package, and currently on a dedicated box. Uptime is been perfect, and support has been nearly flawless. I say nearly only because they've had a couple problems tracking down issues with stats, but thats about it. Always been treated well.

Everything seems to take an unnecessarily long time, and it usually takes a few emails before they get into gear.

But as I said the hosting is good, so hopefully you wont have to contact support that often!

Dunno man, like I said, maybe I caught the guy on the wrong day of the week or something. Either way, I kept the logs just because I am anal like that. He was pretty dickish even after I explained my concerns and the fact that I had asked around and had been suggested to contact tech support about this certain issue. Treated me like I was from fucking mars with split pea soup coming out of my ears.

And I should also point out that I do STILL use them, so the one guy didn't sour my entire experience. So as far as hosting goes, I guess yes I could recommend them. As far as support goes, i'd recommend my mother in-laws dog first.

Sorry, I knew you were a female. I saw "Turbo" and my brain automatically put face behind it. I didn't mean to address you as "Man". My brain isn't on full throttle this morning.

It happens all the time hun I think the blonde part was more to let you know that I have had what I call "A blonde moment" while talking to the support guy's and they still were nice.

what good is a host with lackluster support? Theres a reason why you never see any isprime, natnet, techiemedia threads. Im assuming your looking for a cheap solution. You really should look beyond pricing I know a few people on webair who say the same shit about support taking a little longer than really necessary

I'm not saying that my problem wasn't fixed in a timely manner...That's why I never complained about the asshole sounding tech because even if he was rude, he still fixed the shit quickly.

should they have to? Also your experiences and comments are just about useless in regards to webair. Go tell your experiences at another non adult forum where noone knows who the fuck you are and your imapct will be nill, as opposed to your stardom here. Maybe they are as good as you say, but one can only assume your issues are elevated. Its just strange how there are never any negative threads about the other top notch hosts, strange huh?

webair is good for posting galleries on, and using their mail servers but thats about it.

I wouldnt suggest using them for anything important, dont bother installing scripts on a webair server, just asking for trouble.

Let me preface by saying my luck is usually jinxed and a couple of folks nickname me "Schleprock"

That said, I am going into my 3rd month at Webair. I had switched from a nightmare host with totally uncoordinated tech support.

Shortly after getting all my pages uploaded and working all of my CGI scripts stopped working. Apparently only one server was affected and it apparently affected so few people that no one else here was among them. Lucky me. About 24 hours later they sent me a message that it was fixed (have no idea what it was).

On Friday the 13th last month I had a wisdom tooth pulled and complications knocked me out of commission for almost a week. When I got back online I found that the index page of my main site I'm working on and matters wouldn't display ("cannot find server"). I have no idea when that problem started but if I were a betting man I would guess shortly after I left for the dentist Apparently it affected only me or so few people that no one else here was among them. Lucky me.
After a call with the perplexed tech he said that he'd have someone call me back after they returned from a meeting. Next day I got an email that it was fixed (have no idea what it was).

Currently I'm having a speed problem and it's taking about 8 seconds for a page with a single text word to come up (I'm on DSL 3.0 line). After reading this thread apparently it is affecting only me or so few people that no one else here is among them. Lucky me

Even with those issues they are 100% better than where I was where it would sometimes take a dozen e-mails to get someone to understand the problem.

I use them and have never had a problem and whenever I need something they've always been there for me. I'm small bits compared to anyone here so maybe you got someone on the wrong day. Support is always professional and helpful

sickkittens - every host is going to have some issues at some point or another, or with one particular client its inevitable. We do our best to offer the best possible services humanly possible. Our support is truly 24/7/365 via live person chat support or toll free 1.866.WEBAIR1 phone support.

From all of the posts here I would venture to say we do a pretty good job overall. If there is ever an issue that any of my clients have experienced whereas a tech was rude, or discourteous to them in any way shape or form that will simply not be tolerated by me or my management staff. Or techs are told from that get go that sort of conduct will be dealt with in a swift and harsh manner. to me it's just 100% unacceptable.

Simple Simon - I hate to address you directly with regards to this, but I've read your posts time and time again. It's cool to like other hosts and even recommend them, but (IMHO) until you have hosted with us please refrain from the bashing it makes you look silly.

As far as the Juicy comment we treat all of our clients the same as we would treat juicy...I am a firm believer in that a $9.95 client is just as important as a 20K a month client and should be treated as such. I learned that in 1996 when one of my first clients ($19.95 at the time) actually was testing our services out before he decided to bring in all of his servers to become one of those 20K a month clients. BTW the client I'm referring to here is still hosting with us

sickkittens - feel free to contact me I'll set you up with a great package and offer you the best support we can offer you. If you don't find it up to par feel free to call me directly 516.650.1501 and I will make sure you are happy with us.

Any of our clients can contact me personally and directly at any time...I rarely sleep

Been probably hosting them since 2000, and no complaints. Their support and somewhat C-Panel are ok and needs improvement. But other than that they are excellent. Highly recommended!

We used webair when I worked with Quickbuck. They treated us great!

But if you want unmatched support, i'd go with reflected.net... you can call them @ 3am and have pretty much anything within reason fixed instantly. No bull shit.

Right on. I use any method I can to get somethign done. I've used all three: Phone, Online Chat and their trouble ticket. Like I said their trouble ticket and C-panel could use some improvment.

webair are topnotch for me and several of my comus clients, have been with them for nearly 3/4 years now and just last month took two more servers. The techsupport through the c-panel is a bit slow lately (around ten minutes to get a tech on the chat) but they have helped me very good.

I would recommend them to anybody ;)

I can vouche for that I don't think any of the Webair techs sleep.

When I got my box setup there recently all of my requests were implemented faster than I've experienced at any other hosting companies, and I've been through a few.

Plus uptime has been solid and the speed is impressive. My sig has nothing to do with my opinion of Webair.. I fly the sig because the company is solid.. I'd recommend them to anyone.
