Canadian Webmasters and Euros
Hi,
Some of my processors and sponsors can pay in Euros, and I would much rather get Euros than USD but in Canada I have not been able to find a bank which can set up a Euro account. Consequently, Euros have to be converted with each transfer and extra fees charged. US money wires are very expensive and all our money has to be routed through New York. If I'm doing business in Europe from Canada, I don't want my money going through the US. Are there any Canadian webmasters (or anyone) who have found where we can set up Euro acounts? Thanks kindly, -Dino |

BNP in Montreal ( Banque Nationale de Paris ).
But unless you intend to use the euros as such, open an account at at TD Canada Trust. No fees to deposit check converted in Canadian, and for me no hold backs ....

Good question, right now I'm just converting all my Euro checks and wires into CAD when I get them. You get a shitty rate doing it that way.

Thanks for the feedback so far.
TD can't handle Euros without converting. I prefer wires over checks - more reliable, but Euro wires can only be sent to Euro accounts. I'll check with ING. I'll check with BNP in Montreal - that might be a solution. Hopefully the difference between Quebec and BC won't impact my access to BNP from the west coast. I wonder if they are also hooked into our domestic bank system. I don't mind holding my funds in Euros. I will be doing payouts in Euros, so minimizing conversions would be good. -Dino |
