As far as the economy, can't really tell.

Its the same as in the US, if a cop pulls you over for speeding and you try to offer him a bribe of $20 he'll laugh at you!

Same as in Chile, why?

Because their jobs are so good they would be a fool to risk losing them for accepting a bribe.

In Argentina it doesnt work like this!

Entiendes? :winkwink:

Looks like nowadays is very hard (for a foreigner) to get an US bank account because of the Patriot Act.

My point is that I have done enough travelling to know what is and is not a 3rd world country. Argentina isn't perfect, but it's not a 3rd world country.

Then it is always safer to just use a debit card and get money out of any atm from your curent bank account, you can get one here, but just don't put too many eggs there :)

He is right and that is why I think policemen should make enough money jsut so they don't get corrupted. Probably they get better salaries in Chile. Think that having free public insurance here, free university, etc etc it is expensive for the government so they try to administer the best they can, which can result in low salaries for public employees , etc.

Back during WW2 Argentina offered a better standard of living then Australia and Canada! However nowadays outside of BS AS there is little infrastructure! :2 cents:

It is true, Argentina was # 6 country of the world, to make history short: That was during Peron government, instead of investing in technology and education he gave things for free with Evita, to the poor people: houses, clothes, etc, so they emptied the reserves of the country. He did good things and bad things, but he had a unique opportunity he wasted.

Hahaha I guess so, he seems to be doing pretty well now, drug free, lost a lot of weight, and is going to work for some soccer team.

Sad but true...

Inumerous people in US think that from Mexico below theres only one big Amazon jungle. Millions of people having to survive in the jungle without electricity dealing with giant anacondas and running from cannibal indians!

Sounds stupid? I heard it all.. believe me! :)

Heheh I know it is like that, I have always been interested in ethnic and different cultures, etc also at school you have to study all countries in the world, so you have a general idea of everything, The most approximate idea I heard was that Argentina is a Brazilian city :)

Palermo is very nice, Palermo Soho/Hollywood/Viejo is one of the top places if you like restaurants, pubs, bars and trendy stores :) Lots of young people there too and safe place definately.

I bet it is amazing, I have travelled very little - to San Francisco, US once - but I read a lot about other cultures and stuff. I would love to visit Morocco, China, Japan, Russia, Mexico, Italy, wow, so many palces that it would be hard to choose :)

bu((aneer why do you insist so much in making argentina look bad? Argentina is not a 3rd world country by any means.. According to the CIA fackbook site.. Argentina has a per capita GDP of 12,400 (as of 2004 its like 8% better today) making it the higest south of the border, also the UN said its developed in all the other areas in fact Argentinian economy is the 24th largest in the world.. just above the neatherlands(http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/.../2001rank.html 2001 figures when they where really down it grew almost 20% now)
