so i haven't paid too much attention to the whole issues, i figured nothing would really materialize and still think that with the millions of sites nothing will really be done against those sites that don't 'comply'.

but what im wondering is as a canadian webmaster, does this effect me?
what do i have to do exactly to comply, in short?
why is this an issue, why was such a law passed? it doesn't make much sense to me that affiliates have to deal with ID's and shit when its just another copy of what the program would have anyways.

There's isn't a "short" answer. read the regs to see what is required of you.

Because the US DOJ wants to shut down porn. Porn is evil didn't you know. They aren't treally looking to arrest people put them on trial and send them to prison as that would cost lots of money. If they can get 100 webmasters to quit for every 1 person they actually bust they'll be happy.
