"Police said Hutcherson was apparently unaware his friend had been decapitated -- and drove more than 10 miles to his parents' home, where he went inside and fell asleep with the headless body still in his truck."
John Kemper Hutcherson, 21, pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide in the death last August of 23-year-old Frankie Brohm, whose head was severed when the car grazed a telephone pole support wire.
The two men were on their way home from a bar after a night of drinking when Brohm stuck his head out the window because he thought he was going to be sick, authorities said.
His friend stuck his head out of the car and it got cut off by a telephone pole wire.
You make it as if he grabbed a knife and did it while he was drunk.
It was a freak accident. I think the judgement was fair since the family of the victim asked for leniency for him.
i agree, if he hit a random person down the road it would have been different. the guy knew what he was doing when he got in the car with a drunk driver though. 5 years is nothing compared to the guilt hes going to have to live with for what happened to his friend.
It is sad to see that the guy died, but I think that the driver should do a lot more than 5 years. Had he not been impared, he would have know what he did, and most likely not have hit the wire in the first place.
So how could he not notice. I´m pretty sure I would notice if I just decapitated my friend. As to the sentence, well.. as it was an accident, I think the sentence was fair. However, he should have had an additional sentence for drinking and driving, I simply don´t understand why people do that.
