Fisting is not illegal in the United States. Obscene material is. The question lies in whether or not fisting is obscene. Penthouse has had a few pictorials with fisting in them, and Seymore Butts has distributed a video with fisting (after a lengthy lawsuit, and the premise that he must also a distribute a non-fisting version). To some people, Playboy is obscene.
