FTP Problem argh...

Anybody ever get a "Can't read from control socket. Socket error = #10054." error when trying to connect to a server? I just started encountering this after my computer hard-locked and I had to reboot. Sigh...

Damn, nothing seems to work. Tried rebooting the FTP server. Tried different IP's and computers. Must be something server side.

10054 error is indeed usually a server-side error. It's usually caused by the FTP server being restarted mid-transfer. Or anything else that would halt the connection during a file transfer. But that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Quite odd. I'll look around for an answer. Good luck.

Actually that's precisely what happened. I was in the middle of uploading some new hosted galleries when my computer hosed on itself and I had to hard-reboot. Is there anything I can do at this point?

Well, let me clarify. Its from my experience the FTP server that has to cause the interruption. Not to mention, from what I gather from your first post, it is happening every time. For it to happen every time you try to upload something, you or the FTP Server would have to halt the transfer every time.

I'll ask some friends and get back to you if I get an answer.

Just in case anybody cares, the problem was resolved by running the script fixproftpddupes which I guess was in my /scripts directory.
