    2257 dumb question...

I'm curious. When they start cracking down on everyone, is it soley going to be about being compliant NOW... or will they be also going after those who made alot of money and sold out and were not compliant?

If you aren't involved anymore, you don't have to keep the docs anymore, so how could they enforce on people who sold out?

Actually you must keep them for five years at the minimum. Though it is recommended you keep them at least seven.

LOL... Well don't look at me. I don't really have to be 100% perfectly knowledgable about this. We have a department that deals with all that. My job entails getting tons of traffic and taking care of webmasters

Anyway I was just curious because I think alot of people are going to be totally OUT... and I wonder how many people will still get busted for not being compliant in the past and also how long they would have to keep the docs if they try to just bail.

I would imagine people who no longer run businesses have nothing to worry about. Future owners might though.

if you were the custodian of records, the law was 5 years - the proposed regs were 7.

but if you were the custodian, and stopped acting as custodian when you left, you were already in violation of the law unless you did your full 5 years already...
