Question about sales tax (vehicle purchase)
Ok, so if I traded a 10k car in on a 20k car at a dealership, I'd pay sales tax on 10k (difference between two vehicles).
Now, I just sold my car, private party and bought another vehicle private party......must I pay sales tax on the entire amount 20k or if one vehicle replaced the other, will I be absolved of sales tax when I go to register the car? Knowledgable responses only, please. |

Good question but I'd be thinking that yes you have to pay tax on the full price. Now, if you report the actual price you paid is another questions. Some states tax you at that the blue book value for used cars.
