HTML / PHP / C / Java... Code editors and IDEs - GoFuckYourself.com

Dunno how many people actually code their own sites, but I've seen a few threads here and there about "what is the best code editor" and whatnot. With that, I just wanted to share one I found and actually started using: Eclipse.

I've used Dreamweaver, notepad, home site (cold fusion studio), Visual Slick Edit, Hot Dog (old school), Net Beans, etc, etc, and all have their strengths and weaknesses. Basically, not one piece of software will do everything and even the one I'm mentioning won't do it all - if you're doing a quick text edit, VI works just as well as a $400 piece of software - that's a matter of choosing the right tool for a specific project. I'm talking about an all-around tool for development.

I was a firm believer that Visual Slick Edit would be the last IDE I'd ever need, but when I started using the free and open source Eclipse, I realized I was wrong. Not only is it free, it has plugins for HTML, PHP (with MySQL support), Java, JavaScript, Visual Source Safe, CVS, (insert many other languages) and a ton of other cool shit -- all free, on any platform.

Anyway, thought I'd share something I found that others may not have known as an option for their development needs. Again, it's just another tool, albeit that does a lot, and some might find it a valuable addition to their toolkits.

I've tried quite a few also, but what can I say....I still only use Pico everyday

i used to use Zend Studio, but then i got sick of it hogging so many resources.

Nowadays, I code xhtml and css locally using a program called emeditor, and i test it using opera, mozilla firefox, and internet explorer. For server side editing, i use vi.
