People with 17" monitors or less...

Do these people buy porn? Is there a porn counter that can enlighten us on how many UK, US and Canadian surfers use less than 19" monitors? I looks at my stats and checked out paying countries (90% of the market) vs. the non-paying countries (10% of the market) and it seems like the 90% all are broadband and 19" monitors... So why do so many websites cater to the idiots in 3rd world countries using modems and 15" monitors? (800x600)???

I say America takes the internet back and makes it a place where shit gets done in 1024x768 minimum!

Side note... almost all tgp's are done so that people with a 15" monitor can view them... this is because the most clickety (tradable) traffic is foreign... Sucks because I am sure many people with cable models or dsl and 19" monitors would like more thumbs per row, and more rows per page.

You can take what you like but if your customers are viewing something on a 17 inch monitor and you're not catering for them then you may as well go and flip burgers because you will make more money.

At the moment where I live the standard monitor being sold in computer packages in department stores is a 17 inch flat screen.

So take back the net and leave the surfers to the rest of us who want to make money.

800x600 is still the standard but it's getting smaller and smaller by the day and you should be preparing for the future

Most people have 17 in CRTs. Most people get thier computer from places like Wal-Mart and that's the standard now. It's changing of course. 5 years ago 15 in CRT was standard. Hell I still use a 17 in CRT. I've just recently switch my settings to 1024X768 in the last few months. I'd say maybe 60% or more use a setting of 1024X768 or higher and that's growing each day, but that still leaves a lot of 800X600 surfers left. Hell most major websites still are in 800X600 format. when they start changing to 1024X768 then people wil change.

Thing is though thing like video clips that look decent size in 800X600 look rather small in 1024X768. For example go to startwars.com and view their "large" trailer for Episode 3 in 1024X768 and tell me that's "large" size. The ironic thing is the site is designed for 1024X768.

OK.. 17 inch monitors are OK.. so long as the surfers are using the 1024x768 resolution... Everytime I am at a friends house I am appalled when I see it set to 800x600 and surprised that after I change it, they are like WOW... I never would have thunk?!?!

I have more friends who are still using 15 inch monitors and guess what? They don't EVER pay for porn. Guess why? No checking, no credit card, no debit card. They aren't going to put it on the phone so catering to them is a joke...

As for the comments off, fine, leave and let us make money... haha... Sure.. If you could make money, you'd make pleanty with me here... Innovate.

1024x768 is standart resolution even for 15' monitors.

Only if you are talking about LCDs 17 inch CRTs come set at 800X600. When my friend got his computer a few years ago it came with a 15 inch CRT set at 640X480. There's no fucking way anyone could comfortably look at web pages very long on a 15 in CRT set at 1024X768. My mother keeps here 17 inch CRT set at 800X600 because 1024X768 is too small for her to see. Not everyone is young and has good eyesight.

It is not always that people have a small screen. Some just dont change the default resolution on the screen when they first set up the computer. Then there are the old people, or just people that see better with it set to 80x600.

Also There are still TONS of people that do not have broad band, that can MORE then afford your site. To make that statment is ignorant.

17 inch screen
Screen resolution set at 1440x900 right from the factoy.

keep building at 800x600.
I like that.

I don't know, but for me 1024x768 is the standard these days. Everyone who has at least 15" monitor can perfectly see 1024x768 coded/optimized pages and sites...

I stopped using 800x600 in early 2000s and I still had my old 15" Samsung. Of course everything was a way to better with 1024x768 resolution...

So I think 800x600 is gone these days!
