What the heck is the name of that song the georgia satelites used to sing.. "I got a little change in my pocket goin ching-a-ling-a-ling" Make sure it's sung by a bunch of drunk as guys that keep singing the chorus over and over and it's 100% redneck.

Sweet Home Alabama is the ultimate white trash tune. Or you can just buy the Joe Dirt soundtrack.

This last weekend, I attended my cousin's wedding in Naples, Florida. Generally when I tell people that I grew up in the swamps of Florida, they don't quite get just how country that is. Everybody pictures Orlando, Mickey Mouse and Miami.
Maybe these pictures of the bride arriving on her Daddy's swamp buggy to be escorted to the altar will help you understand. Here comes the bride... http://themcaleerclan.com/dixiedarlin.jpg What better use for a spare swamp buggy with no engine than to line and fill the engine compartment with beer? http://themcaleerclan.com/SoggyBottom.jpg Just so you get a better idea of what one of these things looks like. Here's the one that was set up for display on the other side of the tents. In the middle of the reception, they fired them both up and took turns revving the 520HP engines as loud as possible to the appreciative "YEEHAWS!" and "WHHEEEWWWSS!" of the audience. http://themcaleerclan.com/Ladybug.jpg |

From living in the backwoods of Tennessee the songs I heard most were
Free bird, Sweet home Alabama, Family tradition and Friends in low places. All of those songs appeared to be the TN anthem. I've seen many a rednecks dance to them, sing along with them, hit on there cousin to them, knocking out each other's front teeth to them , attempt to play them live with there 3 peice band and even bury there loved ones to them. Ya know your a redneck when your burrial song is "free bird" followed by "every rose has it's thorn." |
