lol... Beth's rock kept getting bigger by the years shap and beth's biz was getting bigger and also by the months it took him to finally ask her hand LOL

I'm the lucky one, not only is Beth the coolest girl but she makes us all our money. I bought the ring with money she made us. :thumbsup Lucky for me she LOVES fast cars.

funny but still true : man compete with eachother over prestige, most of you guys forget that a lot of these fiancees wouldnt mind at all as long as the marriage is cool...

It was worth every dime and I'm the lucky one to be with her. :winkwink: By the way she was right, the looks women give us when they see her ring are really funny. Women just go nuts. :thumbsup

HA! My exact story! And in my biz, it pays off - everyone always looks for those things - especially when they are sizing my oportunity up.

And $7K BTW.

I look at her, ask her to marry me, she says yes and he perfoms the ceremony there... bunch of people around us clap.... I really did want to ask her that day to marry and what a perfect unplanned way to make the plan work out.

bought her the $24.93 amber ring from a ring vendor there, all I had was $25 at that time on me. She loved it.......

6 months later when I had some cash to my name I got her a $750 diamond ring... She never really warmed to the diamond ring, which later was lost on a camping trip.

The amber ring to this day sits in a ring box in her jewelry box. She loves that ring more than all the other diamonds I have bought her over the years.

You dont have to spend alot to show someone you want to love, honor, cherish and protect them forever.

great story :angel

Diamonds cost a lot more nowadays than they did when this thread was started. I finally proposed to my girl last June. I wish I did it a long time ago as she'd probably have at least a 1.5 ct Diamond instead of 1.1 ct!

Im a cheap fuck. My first engagement ring was off ebay. Total cost $240 for the ring set (engagement ring and wedding band) and getting it re-sized. Had it appraised by several jewelers at $2k so it was a good deal. The second time I got engaged, I paid $115 for the ring from the pawn shop. At least with the second girl I can say I wasn't being cheap. We had gone ring shopping and she was getting mad at me because I was looking at some rings that were $500-1k and she said that was WAY to much money and would never wear it because she would be too scared something would happen to it.

It really depends on the girls taste and what she wants as to how much you need to spend. Some girls just want a smaller ring while some want a diamond the size of a basketball.

Luckily for my fiance (err pheonsay?) I'm the same way. 3 months salary just sounds insane, I wouldn't want him to waste that much money. That said, mine was a lot more than your great bargain $130. He got my ring at a store that lets you bring it back and exchange the band and/or diamond for something else - that is, something the new fiance actually likes as opposed to whatever he picked out - and the one I picked out turned out to be cheaper than the one he got as a temporary one, even though he expected to pay a lot more. So it worked out. But in general I would recommend going to a store that allows you to exchange the ring just in case ... if she looks disappointed when she gets the ring, just tell her it was a temp and go get a bigger diamond!

I would have been happy to get even something like this from my future husband:

suesheboy 03-16-2012 05:49 PM

biggest waste of money

Phoenix 03-16-2012 07:25 PM

i spent a decent amount, but much lower then i could afford based on advice from a rich friend of mine, however my wife came from money and it wasn't enough for her..lol

So her parents gave her a massive one...in my name...she tells her friends i bought it for her though.
Shap is right, girls go ballistic when they see it.

This right here is some of stupidest advice you will ever get.

Option a - you stay together forever and never sell this ring.

Option b - you die or divorce her and she sells the ring.

Either way you lose big so why worry if it has inclusions or the right color? Get the biggest cheapest fucker and call it a day. It is not an investment. At least not for you so really what do you care? A small perfect diamond and everyone is thinking you are a cheap dick. Tell them is is vs1 etc and it sounds like you are cheap, and are trying to get over. Get a s1 and go big.

Tsharp23 03-17-2012 01:27 AM

Paid about 8600$, Worth it? We'll see

anexsia 03-17-2012 01:38 AM

I pawned my ex-fiances engagement ring, she turned into the biggest bitch ever. Next time I waste my time with a bitch like her, I will take pics and post her all over GFY.

AngelAfterlife 03-17-2012 01:57 AM
