I need info on affiliate programs.

I am planning on launching a pay site soon with content that has not been released anywhere. (not the mature stuff on my prior thread) I do not know jack shit about affiliate programs but I will need to set one up. Are there any resources that show different ways to do this and what mistakes not to make? Looking for a step by step kind of guide.

Thanks

Aaron,

The major CC Processors have turnkey affiliate programs you can use when you set up your CC Processing account. iBill, CCBill, and Paycom/Epoch have "off the shelf" solutions for you. Call them today.

If you're interested in running an ARS/ATN/TOPBUCKS type of program there are tracking software available out there with accounting plug ins.

If you're running on an NT, I'd let you use my ASP COM component for free.

You can get webmasteraffiliate Software
at http://www.clickman.com

I never used them, but heard they were pretty
good. If you want to run a revshare kind of
program and have the processor pay your
affiliates, I would recommend CCBill.

They have some pretty good online manuals
that help you set up their stuff.

I'm also interested in an affilliate program..

I want to offer 50/50 with webmaster, but need a billing company that'll handle several pricing options that are user selected...Also, I need a user selected term..

Like; one time or recur with user select # of months..

I use the ibill affiliate program and it's a great easy to use system. It's hands free as ibill does all the tracking and sends out the checks.

Its amazingly easy to set up a paysite and webmaster/referral program, if you use a third party billing solution.

I use ccbill, took about 24 hours, start to finish.

Of course if you are going to use your own software you need to buy a 'shaver' Now shavers are expensive because not many people know they exist but you will need one for sure. As a rule the bigger the payout the bigger the 'shaver' you will need to buy.

Spacedpg, all billing agencies have some minimum requirements. Piad hosting I would guess is fairly high on that list. Remember the password files are kept on the sites server.

sure, takes less than a day to get set up with ibill or ccbill. amazingly easy.

yet promoting, growing and running a successful, retaining paysite is amazingly not so easy ;)

I already own a Norelco. That is the only shaver I will ever use. Remind me not to do business with you. I know most websites do this but I will not. (I know they all said that at first too) My site will do well enough without ripping off the people who promote it.

hey quiet

This is an 'affiliate' paysite question, not your expertise.

But he is for sure right, the billing is the least of your worries. Marketing, promotion, pricing, retention is key.

But for you Arron, with I assume plenty of good content, the risks are pretty low. You spend 1k on a site design and fuck up well oh well, if I fuck up after spending 10k on content that hurts.

hey Arron i was kidding, my paysite is with ccbill, all stats are handled by them. We are great guys to work with, if you can take a joke of course.

But I am kinda wary of other not 3rd party billing, it comes from tracking my own stats recently.

I have to throw my hat in the ring for CCbill. My host had something fry big time right before the convention and I was working with their techs at 1am to get it running right again. They were great.

I will also concur that traffic and such is the hard part!

You can have the best looking site on the web, but if you don't know how to manage your members area and get traffic to your site then it is worthless.
You need the traffic to get signups, then you need a good members area to keep them. That is where the real money is made.

BTW spacedog.. if you honestly dont know who Paycom is or what their URL is then do yourself a favor and stay FAR away from the paysite biz.
So many people think that all free site webmasters must eventually get into the paysite biz. Sad thing is 99% of those who do fail at it. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar and sometimes a freesite webmaster should just be a freesite webmaster.

No! I want to see spacedog fall flat on his ass and lose thousands of dollars (if he even has thousands of dollars to lose).

Spacedog, you're a newbie shit. Four weeks ago you were asking 10 questions a day, now you've got an "Ask Spacedog" section on your board (Helping other webmasters? Fuck you, you know nothing anyway) and are registering interest in affilate program software. What the fuck are you going to do with this? Submit it to Tommy's Bookmarks and hope for a signup?

Go gnaw on a bone.

I don't know if you know this, but there are SEVERAL affilliate programs that have absolutely NOTHING to do with paysites..
I never said I was getting into doing a paysite.. That's why I asked about different pricing options...
I was wondering about products type of thing..
