What is your best work?
A peice of work that you created and like that stands out from other works you have done. Post your favorite one to date.

This tour stood out for me for several reasons.
1: It was Porndollars first single girl site.
2: The layout was something different fr a single girl site. The concept came out kinda he way I wanted it to or thought of. To date this site is stereotypical of my work style as well.

Some ok photoshop work but Its allways easy to work with good content.
Serval maketing plunders thou, Tours are more than good photoshop there ment to sell and you have to add the google shit for the customer.

Always admired your professionalism AlienQ, looks like you've got the talent to back it up!

I think my favorite work is www.linnwinkle.com - developed for a friend of mine who does cartoon work in his spare time. Many of the subpages aren't up as he's leaving for basic training for the air force in two weeks, but I still love the layout.

I tried but failed miserably lol. I have no direction when it comes to tours, I'm lost in the dark.

A few others I like:
www.fliqs.com - simplicity and function
www.peaon.com - "punk" feel, my first shot at it
www.patrickwmoore.com - another attempt at alternative design
www.mixtapehut.com - I actually hate how this turned out -- "decent" at best after the changes the client requested. original draft is at.... damn I can't find it. If I do I'll post a link, much more professional looking and, of course, minus the dragon.

Yikes! Forgot I could include my own sites lol. By far my favorite layout is one of my own - www.northerndesignduluth.com - a site I use to freelance design for local clients. I usually hate grayscale or monochromatic sites but somehow this one ended up pleasing me. I used the trees from my logo throughout the page and i'm also pleased with how that turned out.

;) I hear this all too often. When I don't work for peanuts and charge full price, business drops and I can't afford my car, cell phone, satellite radio, and the rest of the things that I enjoy in my life. If I could maintain a more steady, reliable workflow I would have no problem.

Why I dont claim to be designer and never have (Im more a marketing type guy) I do some design work for a few very well know programes I could probably even make more per week from desgin work than you. Im very carefull who I work for because I cant afford the time. So I sell at a premium and If Im to dear I dont mind because I really dont need the money.

Dynamix if you want mainstream get out of this biz now

Before its to late.

Emphasise on pure design is what mainstream clients tend to look for in the higher end.
Meaning if ya can pull out of your hat more or less original concepts in illustration and design you will excell very well.

I am not so strong in the mainstream thing I will admit that much
Many mainstream companies already have a presence on the net and will hand you a complete book on the specifications for design on there websites.
I created the website for INTEL's MMX technology website some years ago and NORTEL Networks. Also did some design work Infomercial companies.
Design is very daunting with the specification parameters often enough from these large corporations.
Lack of freedom in design is what scared me away from pursueing mainstream, while adult has allowed me to experiment with concepts and keep my knife sharp while keeping a fast pace.

Great advice Although I don't strive to design for large corporations, at least at first, just small start-ups [ example: www.vistadiduluth.com ]. I don't think I could handle the pressure or conjure up the creativity to design Toyota/Sony/etc.-calibur sites.

Thats my job as a designer. Your job is is to drive them in, thats a huge difference. As a marketer you should know your job is to communicate what has been produced in innovative ways, not dictate whats is to be produced.

My ultimate goal is to capture a chunk of the local mainstream design market.. small business owners who are still new to the "interweb" and have been dialing up to their AOL service not knowing what else is out there. They get charged three arms and four legs for sites that are one hundred times shittier than anything I've ever designed.

I'll be launching a huge marketing campaign in mid-June / early-July here, targetting restaurants, hotels, bed-n-breakfast's, small shopping centers, and auto dealerships to start.

Ummmhhh I know somebody that has a similar goal

Design 101 begins with recognizing overkill, and designing your material for your target audience. Not how much shit you can make blink with Flash.
