aptgp III, better late than never.

There is a new, better version. There is a public support forum. There are satellites...uniquely branded satellites. For those of you who are not familiar with aptgp or want to check out the new version, you can...

Read about it:
http://www.apscripts.com/index.php?p...products&sub=2

Play with it:
http://www.thumbthumb.com/aptgp3/admin/
username: admin password:apscripts

Have a nice day.

Yes. It is a real tgp script. It builds off of an incredibly flexible set of template tools...it will build php files, html, shtml, whatever you want. The cool part now, though, is the niche satellites.

Nice looking script.

I am currently using AGSQL but am looking for a script that allows me to do productivity based thumb rotation, some type of prod booster. I couldnt locate on your site a place that mentioned it. Does your script have a prod booster built in?

also, i would like to chat with you further. Please contact me on ICQ: 456 - 567

Thanks,

It currently does not -- though I have been toying with the idea lately because it is requested so often. My original philosophy, as naive as it may be, was that all auto-thumbs kind of suck. So instead of putting energy into them I focused more on making it easy for webmasters to excercise their creative energy with the super cool flash thumb cropper. If I add the thumb rotation aptgp will officially be comparable to comus, possibly better. And as such I would have to raise the price and stop referring people to comus thumbs every time they ask for that feature.

When I first started aptgp I was under the impression that webmasters wanted to accept submissions for galleries and slowly build a nice site. I was wrong. What the great majority of you seem to want is to load aptgp, go to freehostedgalleries.com, copy a list of 20k galleries onto your clip board, paste it into aptgp, and fire away. By that standard, the productivity based thumb selection is certainly the way to go.

Can you tell me some of the preferences and parameters you would want surrounding this feature? It sounds like it would be fun to program.

I used AP|TGP2 a while ago.

What I wanted to do was not possible then, wondering if it is now..?

I wanted one TGP site with a few different niches. Problem was that I could not create a table of thumbs with one specific niche (group or category) and at the same time have it display the most popular galleries based on unique clicks.

Is this possible now?

Yes. Now you can use :

X:Cat:mix:4:1

Where X is your link definition, Cat calls the category object, mix calls galleries with and without videos, and 1 being the first in the sequence.

On top of that, you can use the PopByCat to call the most popular within a category. Note that this can happen either on your front page index template or on any category page. You can replace the category id, in the above example "4" with "current" to pull from the current category or satellite.

If you want, post this on the support forum on apscripts.com. What sucks is that the template system is a programming language unto itself. What is cool is that it is super f**king powerful. As I have said before and will say again, this program isn't for everyone. That also sucks...but is cool.

AP

PS... I have enabled a promo code "GFYIII" for this weekend. I plan on posting more about it tomorrow. I am out of town right now and typing through vnc into my home pc

I know this may be a pipe dream, but I'd love to see a TGP/MGP script with a native trade system.

normally you get what you pay for.

the apt script is decent but the best scripts i have seen have also been usually the most expensive.

Nice features, I'll have to give it a test-drive sometime.

After reviewing the admin panel for a few minutes, my only concern was the thumb cropper.

I find the Autogallery thumb cropper works much better-- Or maybe it's just me.

Did the flash cropper not work for you? I am not sure what the problem was that you experienced.

The next thumb cropper will behave exactly like photoshop. It isn't terribly intuitive but once you get the hang of it (after 3 seconds) -- it is cool. I haven't seen AGP. Is it flash with a realtime preview too now? I have seen some pretty hokey dhtml based ones but they don't give you an actual sized preview of what you are about to crop. Nevertheless this is the first complaint I've ever had about it.

http://www.apscripts.com/aptgp/ <-- that is the cropper by itself if someone wants to play with it to see what progex is talking about. I had to reset it the other day because there were over 5000 thumbs that people had cropped. I didn't realize it would be so popular.

Again I am reminded of how cute dirty aly is.

The Flash worked ok, although I found the DHTML thumb cropping ones to work better.

With the Flash one, you can't move/reposition the "box crop" around, and just felt it was too sensitive.

My suggestions for the new thumb crop would be:

1. Have the ability to reposition the box crop once you already have a selection. Edit: Found out the way to do this, but it is way too sensitive. The DHTML method is much easier to reposition.

2. Have an option to set a default parameter so that you don't have to manually change the 88x88 field sets.

That's just some constructive criticism.

That is just in the example. In the admin of the script you must not have seen that the height and width of the thumb are in the gallery preferences.

Also -- does the dhtml give you a realtime real size preview of what you are about to crop?

Ah, ok. Good to hear.

Yes, it does. I thought you should know what your competitors are already doing?

I didn't know that -- though aptgp has been doing it for over a year. Thanks for the input.
