I agree on all your points .. in fact there are a lot of "westerners" living in Moscow and mostly getting paid from back home. At the cost of living in Russia, for say $50K/year US you'll live like a king.



Though I'm not sure how valuable real estate is there ...

I have some problemes reading russian so I'm going to have to really do some research before I decide to go. It is one thing to visit and make porn there but it is another to try and live there.

So, I'm from Russia..

there are two faces of russia and russian people. one is the kind, smiling face of someone who thinks they have an use for you or can use you later. the second is the typical backstabbing nature of people there who live in a world where "survival" takes precedence over life long friendships.

your words are the typical words of the typical tourist to russia. russia is a tough place. moscow is the toughest. people are rude assholes. traffic is terrible. its dirty. everything is gray and depressing. everything is fucking expensive. police are on every street corner harrassing you for your documents... i could go on forever.

it took many many years of living in Russia to understand Russia and Russians. funny how people tend to think they have it figured out after a few visits.

in the beginning, you see what you want to see... and see only the positive. after 6 months, you will see things for what they are and your optimism will start to wane as your negative experiences start to add up.

moscow will suck the life out of you in less than a year.

uh... yeah. the city has been the 1st, 2nd or 3rd most expensive city on the planet for the last 15 years and you think you can live like a king for 50K / yr?? i guess it depends on whether or not you consider potatos and beets for breakfast, lunch and dinner to be a royal treat or not.

I have been in france for 2 years and « le vrai français » in less than the first 6 months they sucked the life out of me.

I purchased an apartment here and based my company here. It is beautiful city with wonderful parks, education system for my sons, art, etc.

But there are very few frenchmen I call friends. And I avoid as much as I can to not commence commercial affairs with them.
