Make sure to take off all the anti-spam features of formmail.pl, then post your url for people to test on AWI.

I'm assuming you're talking about the FormMail proggy from Matt's Script Archive... in which case, no. It's a Perl script. Why would you think it would work as a text file?

Yes.... but before you do that, lemme ask, are you trying to set the script up? Just saving the originals.... or what are you doing.....?

So, just make a copy of the file and save it somewhere else... you can save it as a text file if you want, but if you ever need to use it again, just change the extension back to .pl and you'll be fine... it's not really a complicated file.... well, it is, but it's basically just a text file... the extension is only important for its use. But, of course, you can just save the copy as a .pl file to begin with in a different folder and associate it with notepad for opening and reading....

RTFD.

It's all there. In plain English.

But it basically boils down to this:
Change the variables in the script... referers and whatnot.
Make sure your path to Perl and the path to your sendmail prog is correct or it will not work.
Upload to the cgi-bin in binary and chmod to 755.
Put a form in your page with the action pointing to the script, and there is one other variable you need in the html, which is your addy that you want to recieve the form at.... any other fields are optional, but useful.

Good luck, have fun, & don't hurt yourself.

Stop saving it as a TEXT file!!! In your drop down box (when you are saving it) don't pick type = text.... pick "All Files", give a .pl extension and save it. If that doesn't work, save it as a txt file, then rename it afterwards to .pl. Did you just get your computer this morning or something?
