TV Networks pissed, join censorship fight!

New offensive in indecency fight

The networks are mad as hell, and they aren't going to take the indecency fight lying down anymore. A coalition backed by three of the Big Four broadcast networks launched a PR counterattack Wednesday in the battle over television content and the push on Capitol Hill to strengthen indecency laws. The TV Watch coalition, which intends to oppose government control of television programming and promote the use of parental controls, officially kicked into action Wednesday with the release of a study that claims Americans don't want the government to mess with their TV shows. By an 8-1 ratio, respondents to the survey said that "more parental involvement" is a better solution to keeping kids from seeing adult content than "increase(d) government control."
The 1,000-person nationwide poll was conducted by Peter D. Hart Research Associates and the Luntz Research Cos. in early March. . . . The group, which includes among its members NBC Universal, News Corp., Viacom and the Creative Coalition, said it wants to act as a counterweight to such groups as the Parents Television Council and the American Family Assn., which have filed most of the indecency complaints with the FCC.

It won't fly. Most parents are too stupid to setup the parental controls and rely on tv sets and playstation 2's to raise their kids for them

End result - Microsoft will include parental controls in their software for online, as will Apple, as Linux (? who the heck would have their kids using Linux... though I did and learned programming through it)... and with Digital TV, parental controls are already available in every box I believe..

TV networks frustrated because showtime hbo others have cussing swearing and nudity they can't have so they lose viewership.

It's not hard to see why they are getting involved.
